Tearz49ers Presents: The Herd Of Thunder (NCAA Football '14)

Prologue: So a lot has changed in my personal life since April since I started the last failed dynasty report with North Carolina, again enjoyment played a huge role in why that report never really took off and why I am here again with USF, time has opened up in my personal life and I am in more structured lifestyle now and I can fully commit to a dynasty report for the first time in years.

I am going to be running this dynasty as I was the Athletic Director of USF, that means personalized coach firings/hirings should it be needed with USF, this will be implemented in the game using a mixture of the Dynasty Editor and the actual game.

I will no longer be playing the games myself, this dynasty will be strictly CPU vs CPU, the problem I have found with NCAA Football '14 when it is User vs CPU is that you can always find a way to win games hence why my Texas dynasty I was 8-1 and with North Carolina 3-1, this instantly takes the enjoyment from the game for me and I have always been fond of St Francisco's approach of a more GM based looked.

With the restrictions I am implementing on recruiting, CPU vs CPU, adding realistic injuries (something NCAA Football '14 sucks at) and so much more this dynasty will be one of the toughest, and most in-depth I have ever put out.

    Platform: PS3

    Mode: All-American

Rosters: NCAA Football 14: 2019-20 Roster Update

Sliders: As real as it gets CPU vs. CPU sliders

Gameplay Preferences: QTRS- 7 Mins, Home Field Advantage- On, Ice The Kicker - On, Fatigue - Off.

Non-In-Game Tools: I will utilize the use of the Dynasty Editor, DB Editor and mjavon's Dynamic Dynasty Tool

Recruiting Restrictions: I will only be allowed to recruit a maximum of 2 five-star players until USF reaches a six-star prestige school, these five-star players must have USF listed in their top three schools and must be from the state of Florida.

I will not be utilizing NCAA '14 low lock cheese (for those who know what that is), this is the easiest way to turn a school around quickly and I am looking for a longer project with USF.

Red Shirts: I can only Redshirt players that are true freshman, a maximum of 10 true freshmen can be redshirted per year.

Transfers: Players will be thoroughly examined before being accepted. Any player who is persuaded into staying must start the following year, except following positions: QB, MLB, K, P

Players Leaving Early: I will not be allowed to convince any player from leaving early.

Cutting Players: I will not be allowed to cut any player from the roster if the team is below or at the roster maximum.

Freshman: True freshman are given an additional 15 pounds during their first preseason to recreate the muscle they would gain in a S&C program. This is optional for the following positions: QB, HB, WR, K, P, CB, FS.

Injuries: With the limited amount of realistic injuries in this game I will be taking up Hellisan's method of injuries which utilizes Random.org to generate a number of injuries, which week and for how long (This includes a set amount from pre-season). A deeper explanation can be found here: The Career of J.D. Clark (NCAA 14)

Credits: Credits go to cfjunkie, matt10, Cheese2121, ToySoldier, ID, Deegezy, St.Fransisco, TBMiz, and many more for inspiring some of the creative work in this dynasty. Even if they had no impact on this specific dynasty, they have impacted my dynasty reports and my ideas in the past and deserve to be mentioned.

Please do not post yet, thankyou

Re: Tearz49ers Presents: The Herd Of Thunder (NCAA Football '14)

                  ***********

Thoretically when speaking about the University of South Florida we should be looking at the fact the program has won 36 games in the last four seasons a school record for that period of time and from a recruiting standpoint they have consistently been successful amongst the Group of 5 and have signed classes that rank 77th or better by 247Sports every year this decade.

Thanks in a large part to a few transfers, their roster is as loaded as any program in the mid-tier in college football. However on the one hand that all sounds rosy but the fans still seem kind of miserable and in a large part the eyes are looking towards their head coach Charlie Strong.

The end of the 2018 season was horrible. USF started the year 7-0 but then proceeded to lose six straight games. In just two years the USF offense has completely changed under Strong and not for the better, and as a defense-minded coach, we saw the Bulls defense drop to 80th in college football last year.

Slides obviously happen in college football but Strongs consistent suspending of players (something he did in Texas also) hasn't exactly bought smiles to the faces of the USF fans.

2019 could really be a make or break season for Charlie Strong and his coaching staff in South Florida.

Previewing the USF Offense in 2019:

Things were ok up until mid-2018 for USF, and when Blake Barnett got hurt the wheels just came off.

After averaging 36 points per game through eight contests, USF averaged just 17 in the last five. Former offensive coordinator Sterling Gilbert found a nice life raft in the McNeese State head coaching job, and it was time for Strong to again find an offensive identity.

He found Kerwin Bell. A former Florida quarterback and journeyman pro, Bell spent the last 17 years as a head coach at the high school, FCS, and at Division II levels under his leadership, the Valdosta State Blazers won the 2018 Division II title.

The USF offense starts with quarterback Blake Barnett. Five games into last season, he had a 65 percent completion rate and 153.7 passer rating — over a full season, that’s top-20 in the country, but then the injuries set in, first, it was the shoulder, then the ankle. He missed the Cincinnati and UCF games and was terribly mediocre against Temple in between. Still, when healthy, he looked the part and going into his senior season he still has a lot to prove.

USF lost slot receiver Tyre McCants, but that doesn't mean it lacks weapons. Randall St. Felix was on the of the nation's best freshman receivers last season and both Stanley Clerveaux and tight end Mitchell Wilcox are both solid possession options for Barnett and Michigan transfer Eddie McDoom could be a new option for the slot role.

Jordan Cronkrtie will be the Bulls main ball carrier and I expect him to average more than 10 carries a game. The Florida transfer had 302 yards and three scores in a shootout win over UMass, he then rolled for 151 the next week in a win over Tulsa in which Barnett struggled. He was a four-star prospect and clearly has a four-star upside.

The Bulls also have an experienced line blocking for him. Left tackle Eric Mayes is gone, injuries and shuffling led to eight guys starting at least two games last season, and seven are back, including three-year starting right tackle Marcus Norman. Strong added Virginia Tech transfer Jarrett Hopple and has seven three-star freshmen (three redshirts, four true freshmen) waiting for a shot.

Previewing the USF Defense in 2019:

If unity was a statistic in college football then USF’s defense would rank highly. When the offense started to collapse last season, the defense decided the kind thing to was collapse as well to take some of the heat off the offense, yeah go figure right?

The front seven appeared to be the biggest problem in 2018 — along with the inability to pressure opposing quarterbacks from anywhere on defense. Worryingly the Bulls defense has to be rebuilt. Kirk Livingstone and part-time linebacker Greg Reaves return at defensive end, but two of the top three defensive tackles for USF last season have now departed and whilst junior tackle Kevin Kegler appears to be a keeper he will need help, and the big question is where will he get it from?

At linebacker, there is a lot of pressure on Nico Sawtelle to try and stay healthy this season, the now senior produced more tackles for loss in just six games than any other player did for USF all season. Sophomores Dwayne Boles and Andrew Mims come in as the most experienced options after Sawtelle and that based off just 14.5 tackles combined last season for the pair.

It doesn't get any better for USF when you look at their defensive secondary, another unit that has taken big losses with five of last years starters now gone Sophomores Nick Roberts (SS), Mekhi LaPointe (FS), Bentlee Sanders (CB), and Vincent Davis (nickel) are all going to have to take the brunt of the opposing teams quarterbacks, and junior Mike Hampton was dynamic in logging 18 passes defended last season but that is about where it begins and ends for this unit.

Depth is a major concern. After this potential starting five are redshirt freshmen, true freshman, and JUCO transfer McArthur Burnett. Any injury issues could be worrying game-changers.

Previewing the USF Specialists in 2019:

Copy Weiss is a pretty good kicker, but aside from Weiss, there isn't much strength. The Bulls’ efficiency rankings were 110th or worse in punting, kickoffs, and punt returns, and that dragged USF ranking down to 91st overall.

Just about everybody’s back, but we’ll see if that’s a good thing. One additional return is undoubtedly good, though: that of Terrence Horne Jr., who returned two kickoffs for touchdowns in an unlikely win over Georgia Tech and then proceeded to tear his ACL two weeks later.

                  Final Analysis

Another down season and this could mark the end of Charlie Strongs time with USF. Looking at the roster overall you just can't really see where wins outside the obvious are going to come from.

They open the season with a home game against Wisconsin than a trip to face Georgia Tech and I really can't see the Bulls coming out of these two games with anything other than losses, I would be highly surprised if the Bulls win any more than four games this season and that will 100% spark a new era in South Florida heading into 2020.

Can’t remember seeing a USF dynasty here before. Hoping you can compete with UCF sooner rather than later!
