    WWE 2K20 First Impressions

I'm willing to cut Visual Concepts a little bit of slack because I'm sure the development process for the game wasn't clean and easy but it's a major disappointment that this game seems to mostly be a downgrade from last year. I feel bad for those that got the game day one expected an improved product. Hopefully Visual Concepts puts in the work to improve the game post release.

The glitches are bad, but I'm more upset at things their resources were dedicated to. I understand why Yukes left because they didn't like the direction 2k wanted to go in.

2k creates/dedicates time and resources to all of these fantasy DLCs/models and arenas, but doesn't make sure the core gameplay and WWE elements are properly implemented.

People complained about "unnecessary" alternates (which I enjoyed). Over the years we lossed alternates like Bossman 99, Big Show 99, Kane 98, Undertaker 98 & 99, Sting 98, Triple H 98, etc.

I understand the removal of legends due to money, contracts, and other promotions, but to get zombie alternates of characters, while removing real life alternates is ridiculous.

Bugs and glitches can hopefully be fixed, but the entire direction of this game cannot be.

Don't forget about the Nikki Bella '15 and Nikki Bella '16. No idea what the difference is other than a costume and one year. Quite a few others like this as well. If it is just a costume, they wasted space on something we can do ourselves.

The downgrade of graphics almost killed it for me. I get that VC took over, but honestly, the game should have at least been the same graphically of last year. If you're releasing a new version you're technically building on what you already had. Every year should be an upgrade to get better.

The obvious bugs and glitches in this game cannot be excused. Unfortunately, game companies are more about profits and less quality. Let the community be the "free" testers. Then, VC will just release a few patches and rinse/repeat for next year. It's the obvious things in this game that really bring it down. Turn 'blood' on, but no blood in match. Hit detection is way off and I've seen wrestlers switch directions mid-air like superman. The ref stands in your way so you can't see what move is being performed on your wrestler. I was beating a wrestler outside the ring and knocked him down. I went into the ring and the ref started the count over? The count should continue as long as I don't go back out of the ring.

I was being attacked outside the ring and my opponent (CPU) came back outside the ring and I thought he was going to attack me more. Nope. He stood me up and went back into the ring. What???

Attributes...I can't even change them. I barely hit the controller and the attribute jump up / down 5+ points. How was this not even addressed pre-release? The one thing they know we do a lot...change attributes. And it doesn't work.

VC knows people will buy the game and as long as there is profit, the trend will continue. Just look at EA for a prime example. And you can't really use the "they didn't have the time frame" excuse anymore. They knew what was happening and when it was going to happen. This wasn't an overnight "oh, by the way you're taking over now. Good luck!" All the pieces should have been put together long before this release.

I can see this game getting "better" if a major patch is released. But I don't see that happening for awhile. Hoping the amount of negative reviews are finally hitting VC because they deserve it for releasing a game that feels very unfinished and untested.

I'm all for getting rid of duplicates with the same model. But I'm against getting rid of different models/gimmicks and entrances. Having Big Show with long hair, Bossman with his corporation theme, DX Triple H, etc are ones that should be kept.

The duplicate female characters are from the 4 horsewomen showcase. They represent different years. Just like last year when there were multiple Daniel Bryan models.

Man am I glad I passed on the game this year!  I haven't seen one review online that even hints at this game being anything but a big turd.  WWE better look at their overall show concept, this product is floundering, not just the game but the entire production.  TV, PPV, everything is struggling and all you have to do is look at ratings for that to be proven.  I'd be willing to bet sales for this game are tanking.  And this is coming from someone who pays for the network and has bought the game for the last few years on day one.

One more bit of evidence that this game is a dud.  Look at the lack of traffic on OS and in the forum.  For a day one release there are only a half a dozen comments on here?  That tells you all you need to know.  No one is interested in this game until major changes are made.

I've put about 3 or 4 hours into it. Some parts of the game are definitely in need of a serious patch. However, I have had a pretty good time with the parts that work. To be honest, I've mostly just been doing exhibition matches but I like the new controls and some of the visuals are pretty good. The visuals range from really bad to pretty good. I think I can put enough time into it to justify my purchase but yea there are definitely some parts that need work.

                    agreed.

I mean are there things that need patching? Of course. But personally I haven't really dealt with any of the major glitches some are posting about, and the my career so far has been pretty fun

After watching the internet meltdown, I havent opened my Deluxe Edition preorder yet, thinking I would return it. I havent purchased a WWE game since 16, so would you guys recommend keeping this, got it for $71 plus tax minus $50 reward (I would get that back) or buy 2k19 deluxe for $33? I'm a casual gamer now so the huge CAW stuff isnt for me.

I would wait about a week to see what the upcoming patch for 2K20 fixes. If it's not substantial, I would get 19. As it stands right now, 19 is a better game all around.

Sorry I'm late at getting back to this. 2k19 is pretty good imo. The Deluxe edition has a huge roster and the CAW is really good.

2k20's CAW is pretty messed up right now from what I hear. I didn't have any problems creating my basic wrestler for the MyPlayer story but that's all I've really touched. I have really enjoyed the story and I really like the new controls.

...to be honest I'd might recommend 2k19 because it's cheaper and is a good title if you are just a casual fan looking for a wrestling game. I might only recommend 2k20 if you've already played 2k19 and are wanting a new story and imo better controls.

Thanks, I think I will keep it a couple weeks until the patch, unopened. Then see how that is going. It's a tough call because I love the Fiend, the reason I preordered. But alas, it's just a video game lol

I don't really understand how anyone can say the graphics aren't good. I have it on PC and the game looks phenomenal.
