Yeah I know Spear listed the obstacles but I'd wager if there was serious mutual intent from both studios to merge/collaborate then it would happen.

However, as he stated, that's not the case as they both have their own path, focus and direction.

Hopefully, we eventually see the two games reach the level that both teams envisioned.
