Welcome back to another fantastic year of Sounds of the Show for MLB The Show 20!

This year, we have decided to do it a bit different by eliminating the Pre-Season Pack post and lumping them all in one. We are currently working on our preseason packs now so you should see them start appearing within the next few weeks.

I'm not going to rehash information as CujoMatty did a fantastic job in previous years describing what this all means so I will copy some of his work over(Thanks Matty!). So, here we go:

Q: What are these packs you speak of?
A: In previous years we have done 2 packs, preseason packs (starter packs) and regular season packs. The packs are posted on a team by team basis when they are ready. We try and post them in a timely manner so please don't fill the thread asking for ETA's. All packs will be listed below and marked as PRESEASON or SEASON. Since we use Google Drive, preseason files will be overwritten by the season files as we finish the packs. Once marked as REGULAR SEASON, the PRESEASON files will no longer be available to download.

Q: What is the difference between the preseason packs and the regular season packs?
A: I'm glad you asked. The preseason packs and season packs contain walk up music, pitcher entrance music, network theme music and stadium sounds for all teams and most of the players on MLB rosters. The preseason packs are compiled of the last known music from the previous year and reorganized for roster changes this year. The purpose of this is so that fans have packs to use when the game releases with no need to wait for the regular season packs before they can enjoy SOTS. The regular season packs are compiled of all the sounds that teams or players use for the current year. They are completed as we get information from community research. We appreciate any info posted in the thread but ultimately we rely on BU1B22 info as he is our research guru and fact checker. His research is what we ultimately use to create the packs. Because the regular season packs are reliant on research, they take more time. All teams are usually done within 2 - 4 weeks of the start of the season depending entirely on our time and the info we receive from you, the fans. Without everyone here on these forums, these packs would take twice the time.

Q: Will the packs be updated as the season goes on and players change music?
A: Obviously the preseason packs are final once the regular season starts. They will not be updated at all, so once they are live that is it. We would like to update the regular season one's as much as possible but that's pretty reliant on BU1B22's and my time. Ultimately I would love to have an MLB-wide update at the 2nd month of the season, All-Star Break update, and an End of Season update. Updating non-stop through the season is not feasible but could happen if we could get some reliable help. Contact myself or BU1B22 to see if you can help out.

Q: How can I help?
A: As the season opens we will try to update current team projects as we progress. As you watch games you can get music and starting times of the tracks. Keep in mind that BU1B22 will always be handling the Braves and I will always do the Yankees. I have a very strict requirement that files follow a specific format. Timing on tracks is EVERYTHING and having them run at different marks or running too long will not be accepted. It's not enjoyable when one team is completely different than all the others. I also have logos created for the tracks as I do every year that will need to be added. If they all follow the same format, it makes inputting in SOTS in-game much easier. Please remember we do these packs for free and they are incredibly time consuming so please be respectful. I got involved with CujoMatty 4 years ago when SOTS was put back in the game. This was purely for the love of baseball and our desire for authenticity. SOTS is always one of my favorite parts of The Show and I hope you all enjoy using our packs.

Just thought I’d throw out an additional tidbit about this year’s packs that I’m creating. Since players seem to shuffle teams or wait so late to sign to their new teams this year, I’ve compiled all the “strays” still looking for their new owners in what I’m calling the free agent pack. It’ll just be the players that I have saved tracks from last season that aren’t currently signed. That way, for example, if someone decided to start a franchise and signed Adam Jones (I believe he’s playing in Japan now), then there would be music for him available.

Additionally, I’m mulling over the idea of creating packs for legends. That sounds like fun, but a huge undertaking. If there’s interest in that, I’ll give it a shot!

Great idea on the Free Agents pack. I made one up myself last year especially since so many were usable in Diamond Dynasty.

We would love to see what you have for legends! We won't obviously get to them until we have the Opening Day packs out, but I think it would be a cool thing to add!

Thank you guys for all the hard work! Personally, I'm blown away by all the great things you and Ridin' and crew do every season. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated by all of us as it makes playing the The Show addictive in many respects!

I hope this next part doesn't sound too stupid, but I've always struggled figuring out where to place the hot dog, beer, coke vendor calls, chants (MVP) team cheers ("Let's Go Sox" "Let's Go Cubbies") as well as ballpark organ music, helicopter, airplane, firetruck, seagulls, boat horns and subway sound effects. Can someone post a cheatsheet as to how best to use/place these add-ons?

I've always utilized the batter walk up, pitcher, and team music features for the Braves with my own music. I have just discovered that you guys put together the sounds, etc. Thank you in advance and I look forward to all of the sounds. I know that it's a lot of work and thank you in advance. With this I will utilize all of the team music etc.

My question is about the sounds i.e. chants, cheers, jeers, plane sounds etc. When added to the SOTS do they come across as normal background noise during gameplay or do they overwhelm the normal gameplay sound? Thanks in advance for the information.

I've found them to be terrific add-ons. The sound volume doesn't overwhelm or dominate anything. Of course there are some chants, cheers, jeers that are better sounding than others, so you might want to edit what to insert and what to avoid on your own, but the add-ons are a lot of fun to hear during games.

These packs really help with the realism of the game. Wouldnt be the show without them! I will try my best to get the A's and Giants regular like I did last year.
