Re: Give Us XFL 2K!!!
i came here to post this. this is kind of a no-brainer to me.
it would increase the XFLs visibility. and simultaneously, get 2k back into the videogame football arena with a league that's thirsty for exposure.
win. win. especially if visual concepts can bring back the on the field magic of 2k style football.NFL - RAVENS
NBA - BULLS
MLB - NATIONALS
NCAA - CLEMSONComment

(one of?) the prior thread(s) for anyone interested: https://forums.operationsports.com/f...de-heaven.html
Personally I'd prefer a game or suite of games working together. Play an NCAA game as a player and have options in multiple leagues, able to move back and forth as your career ebbs and flows as a player at different levels and then for a decade or longer as a coordinator and coach.Last edited by mestevo; 02-09-2020, 08:40 PM.Comment

Re: Give Us XFL 2K!!!
The XFL has already sold more tickets than the AAF did in its entire season: https://xflnews.com/tampa-bay-vipers...entire-season/
Off to a good start. Lets see if they can sustain it.Comment

Re: Give Us XFL 2K!!!
I wonder who is still there from the VC days of 2K5, or even 2K8. Would they carry over what made that game's engine fantastic?
A small thing I never want them to get rid of for their football titles is the "tap to sprint, hold to charge" face button mechanic. I hope they don't go to trigger sprinting.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Give Us XFL 2K!!!
Negotiating a deal and developing a game are two different things. He didn't say a game won't be made (though he may believe that as well), he just said one isn't being made.
Besides, if one is made, we can't guarantee it will be by 2K. Sony and Microsoft could also be part of the negotiations.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Give Us XFL 2K!!!
92k/Visual Concepts is a good fit, especially with a a lot of the presentation aspects...ref audio during reviews, coach-to-player audio, immediate post-play sideline interviews, etc ...that the XFL has. And then obviously gameplay. Either way, 2k or not, 2022 sounds quite realistic for an XFL game if the league is still operational.Last edited by Kanobi; 02-10-2020, 12:19 PM.Comment

Re: Give Us XFL 2K!!!
XFL 2k game would be nice. 2k gives it XFL the most likely best quality game. Outside of EA, the options are limited. A Indies title wouldn't garner much marketability as a major publisher and wouldn't have resources to have a quality title right away. Sony SD studios wouldn't make sense. It's not like the early 2000s where we had so many publisher options. Nowadays the major ones are EA, 2k, MLB Sony studios, and PES. 2k makes sense because they have the resources and relationship with McMahon to put out a quality football game.
XFL would have to show that they can sustain the amount of buzz throughout season and announce a 2nd season before 2k would be willing to invest. XFL gives them realistically only chance to make a licensed football game. NFL isn't likely to drop their exclusive branding preference and like it or not Madden will continue to have success for NFL to remain status quo. They know a generic football wouldn't sell well. Heck a game full of NFL HoFs didn't sell well. So a licensed XFL game would probably be the only way they would get back to Football market.
2k would have to create a Football engine from scratch and likely they don't have many from the 2k5-APF era still on staff. It isn't as simple as changing lines of codes from 2k8 and adding onto that, especially with new console generation on the horizon. Realistically earliest would be 2022 release. XFL would have to make it to its 3rd season and still have the same buzz.Comment

Re: Give Us XFL 2K!!!
In this case I know I personally wouldnt mind if it helps keep the game and, to some extent, the XFL alive.
Overall, I think the sheer excitement surrounding the return of 2k football would buffer any disdain for how they implement post-purchase monetization barring something unimaginably absurd.Last edited by Kanobi; 02-10-2020, 02:29 PM.Comment

Re: Give Us XFL 2K!!!
Sad thing is those microtransactions aren't going anywhere. These publishers are making 10 billion in revenue just from microtransactions. So they aren't getting rid of that cash cow unfortunately.
It's most want a different experience than Madden and most still have the 2k5(and APF gameplay) nostalgia. It's been 13 years since they last made a football game, people would have to lower their expectations. The other problem is that 2k has shown little patience in Non NBA sports games. Besides NBA, they have just WWE. I'm not going to count Playground or Golf Club.. WWE doesn't sell more than 1.5 million. 2k dropped the other sports titles that weren't selling well. They had the exclusive 3rd party MLB license and couldn't compete with the Show. They put all their eggs in NBA2k basket. So what's to say they don't eventually drop WWE as well unless they want to maintain a relationship with McMahon for a XFL game. 2k has to show patience.
If there is an XFL 2k game, they would almost have to take the APF 2k8 route. I don't see how they could have a league mode when we don't know how an off season will look for XFL if they are going to do multiple seasons. I don't think they would do another draft similar to the one they did late last season and how free agency would look. So they would have to do a season mode at first. They would just have to make the game fully customizable and make the depth of the season mode enough so it is replayable.
What would be good year 1 sale numbers for an XFL game? I think anything over a million copies is a success especially year 1. Anything over 2-3 million is great. What could help sell games is that if they promote the game during live games. If they release game a month before season starts, that'll bring more buzz to a season.Comment
