Fun and enjoyable article by Jeff. So looking forward to this game!

Now to get super off track, I'm really hoping that this game expanding to other consoles come 2021 results in an improved franchise mode. The gameplay is already super steady and well done. I'd expect a small boost to graphical elements for next gen consoles (fully implemented 3D grass rendering, improved dirt, improved textures, significantly lower load times). But the beefier CPUs in the next gen consoles should in absolutely no way limit the construction or revamping of franchise mode (in the small case that it somehow hampers development of the franchise mode currently... doubtful, but I'm also not a developer).

Agreed, very fun and enjoyable article Jeff!

I'd imagine I'll run through a few franchises, but these will be the key ones that I likely end up with:

-Toronto: Canadian. Loads of potential offensively, lots of young arms that you can slowly bring along, and still a dandy farm (BBA ranked it 6th overall!). My usual issue is that given they're my favorite team, I struggle to make moves and stick with them. The maple syrup runs a bit too thickly in my veins!

-Seattle: Same reasons as you listed. Never won a world series. Farm system is coming along, but do you want to sell the farm to make a couple of big additions? Rotation will need a lot of love as well.

-Tampa: As a guy who loves a good rebuild, Tampa doesn't really fit the mold, but moving them to Montreal (if that's one of the cities you can move to), and having a Toronto-Montreal rivalry would be a heck of a lot of fun. Building around Wander Franco will be entertaining as well.

-Miami: Still a bad team, but could also be a candidate for relocation. Great farm.

Jays fan here also. I have a problem playing with them as I get too attached and am handicapped in making trades to improve the team.

.... but Vladdy Jr., Bichette, Biggio???? Come on we gotta go with the Jays.

I'll stick to doing 1 season with my usual suspects: Orioles, White Sox, Rockies, and either Oakland or Seattle.

Going with the Angels. Will rebrand to California Angels and most likely attempt the trade for joc and stripling just to see how that would go. Can't wait

Always fun to read those kind of articles, good stuff!
I am going to play with my Red Sox, and i feel that this year this will be a fun challenge with all the turnarounds going on into the franchise! we have a lot of question marks on the mound, we now have some cap space to get maybe a good hitter, and we need to keep them yankees down, which is a tall task. so to me the Red Sox could be an interesting teams even to non-fans of them

Looking forward to starting one with the Brewers. They got new uniforms, and they’re roster isn’t all that talented. Obviously you have Yelich, Cain, Hiura, Urias, Woodruff and Hader you can build around but besides that, There isn’t a ton of standout talent on the roster. You have Brauns contract expiring so that will give you some financial space. You’d have to build the Farm back up a little bit but I think it would be a fun franchise to play with.

Other teams I was thinking about:
Braves (fav. Team - win now situation)
                            Giants (rebuild)
Rangers (new stadium should be fun)
                            Relocation/created team

I know folks mentioned Texas because of the new stadium. But, I think they are a fascinating team in general who have a lot of different possible outcomes.

The rotation is, well, interesting. It's older, lots of injury prone guys, and without a tremendous amount of upside. Do you really believe Minor and Lynn can repeat their 2019 seasons? Is Kluber still any good? Is there any meaningful depth?

The bullpen...pretty sure that you'll be mixing and matching all season (aside from maybe Leclerc, who himself can be shaky at times).

Then the offense. Do you really trust anyone here? Lots of swing and miss, lots of pop. But there really isn't a proven bat on the roster who is consistent. If you're like me and use directional hitting, the lack of contact/vision on the roster will be tough to overcome (zone hitters might have a little easier time).

Couple that with a minor league system devoid of high-end talent with close proximity to the big leagues, and reinforcements will be tough to come by.

It's not tough to envision a scenario where Kluber/Minor/Lynn paint corners and become a tough 1-2-3 punch and where the big power bats lead a potent "big inning" attack. It's also not tough to envision a scenario where all the starting staff get hurt/regress and there is more swing/miss from the offense than there are bombs.

(and we haven't even spoken about a pretty tough division that they have to content with)
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.
