I know some stats are way off and some players are still missing. I will re-work the issues and update at trade deadline.

I just saw this forum now. Will there be anymore roster updates for NHL 2k8. Im sick of the EA nhl games and I would love to see the 2019-2020 rosters in the game. Just wondering if the interest is still there from the community.

I'm not making rosters anymore myself, but the post right before yours links 2019-20 rosters made by austrianredwing for the XBox 360. If you're on PS3, you can use the editor to convert the save file.

I used the editor to convert xbox save file for my ps3 and rosters looked great, but it really messed up the equipment colors. Is there any way to fix that? I've been using older rosters now, because those colors did look terrible

My bad, converting for PS3 involves several steps I didn't explain. I converted the file myself, PS3 users download here.

For reference, here's how to convert a roster from XBox 360 to PS3 while avoiding the equipment issue:

1. Load XBox save in editor.
2. Batch -> Spreadsheet Actions -> Export
3. Load PS3 save into editor
4. Batch -> Roster Actions -> Mass Removal -> Empty All Rosters
5. Batch -> Spreadsheet Actions -> Import -> select skaters.csv
6. Batch -> Spreadsheet Actions -> Import -> select goalies.csv
7. Batch -> Roster Actions -> Dress Players -> NHL & Created teams
8. Save your file under the name USR-DATA

You'll probably be warned that you don't have enough playmakers after an import. Due to a bug in 2K8, you can't just create more normally. There is a fix, but it's incredibly tedious: it's explained here.

A faster alternative is to open the exported spreadsheet and convert the lowest-rated Playmakers to Utility players. But keep in mind that player type affects player development in franchise mode.

This is a new update with another ton of created rookies and some new prospects that signed lately with NHL franchises. I recognized the teams are a little thin on defensemen so I focused on this kind of players but I mentioned some forwards as well.

First of all: thanks for the hard work. I noticed the ratings are a little bit off for me. In no universe, Erik Johnson or Gabriel Landeskog should have a higher overall than Nathan MacKinnon :-)

Did I made a mistake or are some ratings not set properly?

You can always change whatever you like.

Generally, with how few people we have helping to make rosters for several different NHL2K games, we don't tend to see it as necessary to point out when we disagree with ratings. Could be seen as rude to criticise the work of others when they've often spent weeks doing something for free.

Actually it really was just a question. Anyway I wrote myself a little tool and updated the ratings (took them from Sascha's 2k10 Rosters). Unfortunately this didn't automatically updated the overall rating. Is this just the sum of all attributes / number of attributes?

Could you clarify? Did you edit a spreadsheet and import it with the 2K8 editor? Did you try to hex edit the save file? (Not recommended!)

It's tough to give a good answer without knowing exactly what you did. You can PM me if you don't want to post your process in here for whatever reason.

No, it's a complex formula. The 2K8 editor usually gives a pretty close estimate for skater overalls (and calculates goalie overalls correctly).

I welcome people helping keep 2K8 up-to-date. It might be a good idea to run the changes by austrianredwing though.

Yes, I exported both files to csv usig your NHL 2k8 Editor and 2k10 utility. I then wrote a C# console app which iterates over the 2k8 spreadsheets, looks up first and last name in the 2k10 spreadsheet and updates the values (atleast the ones that are in 2k10 and 2k8). Then imported it back.

But the ovr rating gets only updated once I change a value for each player.

I am on vacation now and will be back tuesday. I will give you more details then. Mind share the overall logic?

The overall rating is complex and depends on player types. Different player types have different calculations.
