QB JORDAN MCALARY DELIVERS ONE OF THE FIRST PASSES OF HIS CAREER

Louisiana introduced their new look air raid offense in style, putting up 389 yards and three scores through the air in a 31-10 win over Rutgers in New Jersey.

Redshirt freshman QB Jordan McAlary had an impressive debut, completing 32 of 45 pass attempts for 378 yards and a trio of scores with no turnovers.

In quite a departure from last season the Cajuns ran the ball just 17 times and picked up only 30 yards, though they lost 21 on a par of McAlary sacks.

OC Kenny Edenfield looked to call almost all of the plays on offense and it was a good game for him as well.

McAlary spread the ball around, connecting with ten different receivers.

McAlary's first touchdown pass came in the first quarter when he connected with true freshman Jacoby Browne on a 16 yard strike. It was Browne's first, and so far only, career reception.

Rutgers tied the game in the second quarter when runningback Randy Hill scored on a three yard run.

McAlary threw touchdown passes to Justin Carter and Darren Guerrero in the second quarter to make it 21-7 at the break.

Rutgers would add a third quarter field goal to their total to make it 21-10.

Louisiana added a one yard run by D'Eriq Robinette on a QB sneak and a late field goal by freshman kicker Joey Christodoulou to make the final score 31-10.

Rutgers' Chris Laviano threw for 142 yards on 15 of 26 passing and was intercepted by Sammy Douglas.

The Scarlet Knights totaled 176 yards of offense with just 11 first downs while Louisiana put up 419 total yards with 22 first downs.

Louisiana sacked Laviano five times, two each by Curtis Bolden and Courtney Miggins and one by Jeremy Bailey.

"It was fun, different for me but really fun." Porter Davis answered when asked about the offensive performance. "Kenny's done a great job at getting that fully installed and the players have picked it up really well."

Louisiana will host Alabama-Birmingham next Saturday in Lafayette.
