Thanks man. I wish (sometimes) I was chilling. I am working as much as ever. Kind of annoying really. I'm one of those people that works really hard, but not by choice. It's like I know I should so i just grudgingly do it. Much more difficult with the whole world watching Netflix and doing little else to stay motivated! Stay healthy!

Appreciate you showing some love here on your desktop setup pic.

I saw that and immediately thought, "damn that looks familiar."
Hey man not too much going on! We have Eddie = we win. There, I caught you up. LOL. If he gets hurt, maybe there will be a storyline. Kidding of course, but.... Yeah. Anyway, no rush, I saw some things missing from your thread like images and just hoping they come back without difficulty.

    Thanks guys.

LOL! I'm very much the same way. I've had the itch to open up one of my old 'chises on here again, but I'm still in school online, so that takes up most of my time, at least during the week. I also feel like once I get going on, I'm not going to stop. Nonetheless, if you see me bring back one of my old ones, you'll know why

Yeah...the Sports Illustrated website I grab the team logos from changed the URL address slightly, making all my logos become dead links. I have asked a site Admin to see if there is a way to use the translate feature to correct it.

I once went through the process of fixing them all manually when the same thing happened several years ago, and let me tell you, that's no fun. I am really hoping to avoid that.

              2021 - Week 11 Preview - #1 Iowa at Purdue

Purdue have been one of the best teams in the Big Ten this year, the disappointing loss to Northwestern last week notwithstanding. Justin Malone has had an excellent season leading Purdue to 18th in the nation in total offense, although the points scored are just 55th in the nation.

On defense, Purdue arguably have the two best defensive players that will take the field in left end Jimmy Martinez and strong safety Anthony Godfrey, who was first team All American last season for the Boilers. Godfrey doesn't have the best foot speed, but over his career he has had far more success than struggle.

Goodman, Lloyd back into the lineup for Hawkeyes

After missing the past few weeks, the Hawkeyes return their leading rusher in Larry Lloyd as well as starter Kenard Goodman. Goodman will start this week, as he is fully recovered and participated fully in practices, whereas Lloyd is probable.

In a bit of bad news, freshman tight end C.J. Terry suffered a back injury and will miss the next few weeks.

"It's disappointing to say, but at this point we're focused on getting C.J. back for the bowl game," said Clark.

Powers Garrett will be moved into the starting position at tight end with Terry and Jason Elliott on the injured list. Jimmy Jean will play the backup blocking role as usual.

              Changes on the defensive front

Coach Clark has watched the team struggle to get pressure against the pass this year and has finally decided to make some changes.

Freshman Jordan Parsons, a small but powerful and very fast outside rusher at 5'11" 230, will start after previously planning to redshirt.

"I think he can help us right now," said Clark. "He might not be a down to down guy all the time, but you're going to see him probably make the occasional play that jumps out at you. He's that kind of player and I think he can do that for us."

Another change is that Braden Stuckey will move to the bench at defensive tackle and be replaced by true freshman Keegan Slack. Slack is slightly faster than Stuckey, with a similar skill set overall, but considered more of a pass rusher than a pure run stopper.

Yes but might have had an involuntary contraction (myoclonic jerk) of the diaphragm recently.

Yes, I've come to find how useful Excel can be for publishing type stuff, like if you were doing PDFs it would work perfectly for that. I used to do all my text in word and then convert but text boxes in excel are really easy to use and work well.

I would prefer to do what Cheese does because if your images go away, the whole story is there, but I'm not smart enough for that html stuff. Thanks for checking us out!

                      Hawk Blog Recruiting Update

It's Go Time for Recruiting Season

With one 5-star, Iowa looks to add a second with a visit against MSU

Iowa's 2021 recruiting class already looks like it will be a success. Currently ranked #7 in the nation, the star recruit so far is Jordan Kijenmij, the consensus 5-star pass rusher out of Springdale, Arkansas. A number of talented prospects have joined him in giving verbal commitments, including the #6 rated QB in the nation in Joshua Mack and a second tight end to pair with C.J. Terry in Robert Dyches, out of Potomac, Maryland. At least two recruiting beatniks are saying that Antwione Harkless, a 3-star athlete out of Springfield, IL could challenge Mack for playing time at quarterback moving forward. Harkless has a similar arm compared to Mack, and a power running style that really wears down defenses, along with solid speed.

Against Michigan State, a second 5-star prospect just may see what he needs to make a commitment of his own. The #1 athlete, and #2 in the nation overall, Nikolai Vessel will be in the stands as Iowa looks to extend their home winning streak to 19 games. Vessel is an all-around offensive weapon who looks a little bit like a bigger, poor man's Christian McCaffrey at 5'10" 225 lbs. He can line up at running back or wide receiver and make a difference at either position. The most obvious difference between the two is McCaffrey has very good speed, while Vessel just has good speed and better pure size and power.

However, Vessel will still create problems for defenses no matter who he chooses to sign with. Iowa are the odds-on favorite however if Vessel does not make his decision this week, Iowa may have to wait out visits to Texas A&M (week 13) and LSU (week 14) before Vessel eventually makes his decision.

                          2021 - Week 12 Preview - Michigan State at #1 Iowa

All season long, Michigan State has been viewed as a pretty massive underachiever. When you really look at their roster, however, the source of their "real life" struggles becomes a bit more clear. Their defense is not particularly smart, and doesn't play well together. The secondary looks solid on paper, even when going down to the nitty gritty of individual player analysis. Nevertheless, their pass defense is #80 in the nation. Sixty yards per game worse than Iowa, despite the fact they rarely have the lead.

Iowa are going to mix in the run and pass together as normal, but look for Eddie Allen and company to mix in a few more screen passes than normal. Kenard Goodman is excellent in the screen game, and will get a lot of playing time with Larry Lloyd out for a week with a shoulder bruise. Daniel Norton will be ready to carry the rock when necessary as well. Due to the lack of discipline the Spartan defense exhibits, it's possible Allen will have a monster game in a bounce back effort. On the other hand, if the overall talent of MSU wins out, this could be a difficult game indeed. They're capable of pulling off the upset. That much is clear.

Where Michigan State brings some problems are in the offensive matchups. They have a very good line, a veteran, smart quarterback, and a primary runner who has done the majority of the damage. Additionally, they have an athlete in Brandon Owens who could just take the game over. Owens is the fastest player at any position in the entire nation. Any lack of preparation exhibited by the Hawkeyes might result in a play going to the house.

Freshman Kicker Suspended - Not happy about it

Freshman kicker B.J. Harrison won the starting job this year and has been excellent, hitting on 14 of his 15 tries so far, and tallying 57 touchbacks on kickoffs. However, the NCAA reportedly found out about some financial contributions made to him by a non family member and isn't happy about it. Harrison has been suspended three games, which would put him back in time for the bowl game.

                          But there's a complication.

A local reporter got to Harrison and asked questions. Harrison turned out to be a particularly candid respondent. Not in a good way.

"A friend of the family loaned me some money to buy some winter clothes," claimed Harrison in the interview. "We don't have a lot of money. I don't have a lot of money. I guess the NCAA has purview over my personal finances so I'll have to sit. Lesson learned. And F those guys. [Expletive] the NCAA, man."

Coach Clark has since told Harrison not to talk to the media again this season. Sources indicate Clark has considered suspending Harrison the rest of the season for his comments, and that kicking him off the team was given some consideration. In the end, this is not a "fire worthy" offense in the opinion of the team. So he'll sit. Probably longer than just the three games.

The team has a senior, Steve Price, waiting in the wings. For his career, Price has hit on 15 of his 21 attempts for a 71% success rate.

Clark reconsidering role of Halloway - again

D.J. Halloway is one of the most talented all-around players on the roster. The plan coming into the season was to play him on both sides of the ball, albeit in a limited fashion on offense. Although Halloway has been effective in his limited chances on offense, he has struggled on defense, more in some games than others. The struggle at times has correlated with an uptick in his use on offense, or special teams.

For the past couple of games, Halloway has played solely on defense, and the team has improved as a result of his playing better.

Still, Clark is considering the idea of playing him at either position on a per-game basis.
Against Michigan State, Halloway will probably play on defense - there's an all-world quality wide receiver lining up on the other side. However, in other games he could start on offense. Or, Clark could simply switch him to offense in the middle of the game. Playing both sides of the ball, however, is probably out of the question moving foward.

"This has been like having two quarterbacks. They say if you have two, you have none," said Clark. "We're going to cut Halloway down to one position at a time, and we'll consider a position change next year."

I am no expert when it comes to Iowa winters, but I am guessing it's important to have Winter clothes.. I live in Oregon and this week we have gotten all 4 season of weather in the same day. Started out snowing 3 inches, then it warmed up to 60 degrees, then it rained, melted most of the snow, then it got windy and then we finished off our day with a earthquake. You got to learn to dress in layers to combat all that stuff. I feel bad for B.J.

He has a particularly low citizenship rating which is why he ended up with the suspension. He might actually be lying about the funds - Eddie Allen has a somewhat low rating as well, just has never randomly ended up with a suspension. Lots of good luck there.

Thanks for checking in Deuce hope you and yours are doing well!

Haha, Helli I always love the diverse ways you find to spice up the dynasty, like with the suspensions! Huge to see that the team can find a way to win even when Eddie has a rare off game. I think having your top two backs in the lineup again is gigantic, as it gives you a bit more flexibility offensively to mix things up when your initial attack isn't working! Hopefully Eddie can get back to his usual ways, though, it would be great to see him leave with a Heisman!
