Franchise Mode Player Mentality (Send to Minors?)

Would sending a player down to AAA to "send a message" make any difference in their performance/developement? Is possible in the game's AI development for a player to "respond" to such a move, or would a well-rated player simply perform better against lower-rated competition?

I'm playing a Franchise with the White Sox, and lucas Giolito is struggling massively in Season 2 (6.89 ERA, 1.69 WHIP through 10 starts) and I'm looking for ways to stop the skid.

I don't know that there is anything programmed into the game that has a player "respond" to being demoted to the minors, but I've done this several times throughout the years of my franchise and I've seen it "work". I've also seen it "not work".

This year I sent Tommy Edman back to Memphis (AAA) for two weeks and he has been playing a lot better since his return. He's not all-star caliber or anything, but his play has been much better.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I do this with any underachiever under control. If it doesn't get them right then ship them out. I rule with an iron fist lol.

My mentality is that if I send a struggling player down to the minors they have a chance to get more at bats and get on a hot streak without dragging down my MLB team.

Whether it makes a difference when they return to the majors is up for debate, but it can be fun to watch their minor league stats to determine whether to bring them back at some point or ship 'em out. Of course, if you are playing as a big market team, you just fire the pitching coach.

I rule with an iron fist too, I also pull guys guys if they get a slow throwing animation that results in a close play at first when it shouldnโ€™t have been close. No pine tar is allowed on helmets on my team either.

Bo Bichette is struggling mightily in my Jays franchise but come hell or high water Iโ€™m going to get him straight. Itโ€™s the major issue I have with playing as my favourite team. I just canโ€™t make the tough calls. I am too emotionally attached.

I should have elaborated/saved my ego: I had simmed all but maybe one of Giolitoโ€™s starts. Rather than demote to AAA, I dropped him from the rotation. Unfortunately, I had to bring him in in the 4th of the very next game. He threw 4 scoreless w 9ks. So, maybe he got the message regardless!!

If a player is in a bad cold spell and has options, yes, I'll do that if I need to.

It has the potential to get the player out of the cold spell and get him back on track. I do that quite a bit with pitchers in particular....

I just had to send Biggio down last night. He is hitting .128 with an on base somewhere around .250 at the end of may. Normally I would ride it out with someone who had decent defence, and normally he does, but he had a game where he made 3 errors including 2 in the first inning on easy plays.

I had to send him down, I might also adjust his stance a bit to mimick him adjusting his approach and see if that helps. Sucks because ive been ravaged with injuries and actually need a decent 2nd basemen.

In other news, Bichette is hitting .328 with 15 HR's so he is doing just fine.

My franchise I have Gavin Lux batting .050 through 12 games. Should I keep him up or send him down? I was thinking of waiting at least through April.

I personally don't make any roster adjustments until at least May, aside from adjustments from injuries of course.

I think you have to allow players to play through slumps, especially at the start of the season where the slump is magnified because batting averages or ERA's are exaggerated due to limited plate appearances or innings pitched.

Two weeks is nothing....players go through slumps and hot spells last 2 weeks all season long. It just stands out more at the beginning of the year.

Give him a day or two off, get his energy maxed-out and get him back on the saddle...he'll be fine.

I had a closer who blew a bunch of saves in a row at the beginning of the season and I was about to trade him as it was frustrating me but he eventually turned himself around and has dominated since.

I forgot to mention, he also struck out 4 times that game(partially my fault).

I have since brought him back up after 2 weeks (he had only been hitting) and the first game back he hits a RBI triple in the top of the 9th to give me the lead and ultimatley the win. 2nd game at home, he crushes a 3 run homer and narrowly misses a 2nd in the same spot off the top of the wall. Not a bad return id say, the new stance seems to be working so far.
