Re: List of Classic Seasons & Historical Specialty Rosters MLB The Show
1999 SEASON - ROSTER RELEASE - SATURDAY, MAY 16
I will be putting the 1999 Season Roster file in the PSN Vault TONIGHT - 5/16 - I don't have a specific time yet, but I PROMISE today is the release day! What you get:
EVERY PLAYER who made a MLB appearance in 1999 (even if for only 1 game) is in this file. NO ONE is missing!
There are a total of 1,215 PLAYERS in this roster! This is an addtional 90 PLAYERS added to the 1998 base file I began with.
On top of those players, you get AN ADDITIONAL 22 PLAYERS who were top 2020 players in WAR - those players will be on their respective AA team, with lowered ratings to adjust.
ALL PLAYER MODELS have been reviewed and UPDATED - this file will be unlike anything you will find in any other roster in the vault, including TONS OF FIXES from the players used in the 1998 base file I began with.
The following players missed the entire 1999 season with INJURIES ... BUT: you will still have them in this file, and they will be on their respective A Affiliation: Alou (HOU), Galarraga (ATL), Wood (CHC), Wohlers (CIN), Morris (STL) & Hernandez (SD).
All LINEUPS and PITCHING STAFFS are accurate to END OF SEASON / POST-TRADE DEADLINE rosters (in the NL, the DH position will be in the 9-spot in the order).
Additional players will be "Joe Random" with a rating of "1" for each of them. You may add your own players by importing over them for added realism.
RATINGS have been adjusted by a system I use that will be MUCH BETTER than what I did in the 1998 file. It's much more "uniform" across the board as I've stayed with it in the entire process. Now, I do NOT claim these are "perfect" and the splits might not be completely adjusted - but realize I have EDITED ALL 1,237 PLAYERS.
I cannot begin to tell you how many HOURS I have put into this file. I began the 1999 file the same evening I released the 1998 - I've had some literal 10-hour days where I stayed at this, so it's likely over 200+ HOURS I've put into this. Again, please take a moment to consider just the player models alone - you will find nothing like them on any file in the vault (no "red faced" players, or skin colors that way off - I have reviewed pictures, videos, scouting reports, even obscure articles to find information on even terribly rated players to get you the most realism possible. For me, this file will kinda be a "gold standard" I use moving forward.
What I HAVE NOT finished yet are CORRECT AGES nor CORRECT JERSEY NUMBERS. I have more work to do today, but whatever I have done - that's what I'm releasing. To be candid, this has been a LABOR OF LOVE - and as much as I've enjoyed it, it's been exhausting. (On a personal note, my mom is currently hospitalized with the COVID-19 virus - she has been improving, but she's a nursing home resident that got caught in a recent slam of positives - and my dad has been totally lost. I'm releasing this file today in part because of this, and also because of some added work-related responsibilities I will now have. This will totally suffice, and if anything, I hope people can appreciate how I've gone above expectations with it. I don't want pats on the back - I recognize other roster makers will vote "dislike" on it just to lower its ratings - but if you can "like" it, I would appreciate it just so others can enjoy it.
Future stuff?? Right now, I truly don't want to think about it. I've created two years worth of seasons and it's been a chore. I'm hopeful the OS'er here who is working on the '98 file update will keep doing so. I've thought about a 96 or 97 season, sine none have really been made, but that's a project for a later time. I hope you'll enjoy it.
I will post here when it goes live and also share on my twitter account - which is the same as my username here, and the same name for my PSN: mkharsh33

Re: List of Classic Seasons & Historical Specialty Rosters MLB The Show
One last ratings note: all players will have a baserunning aggressiveness rating of NO LESS THAN 25 - I've read on the recent issue where runners might not always advance, and it was suggested a baseline number of 25 might help with this. So at the lowest, each player will have a 25 rating to potentially help with this.STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: List of Classic Seasons & Historical Specialty Rosters MLB The Show
Did Bill Swift have that reverse Michael Jackson surgery....pretty goofy looking when it does that.
Fun seeing Xavier Nady on that list earlier, we grew up together as kids. I took him deep when we were playing in Pony League. We had an all star team that year and he was the only 13 year old on our 14 year old team. I think he's still coaching somewhere in the minors.Comment

Mkharsh33, You Rock! I cannot wait for tonight! Much more importantly, nothing but good wishes and prayers for your mom. Hope she gets better quickly and out of the hospital even sooner. Thank you for all the work you have done.Last edited by silencer813; 05-16-2020, 05:14 PM.Comment

Re: List of Classic Seasons & Historical Specialty Rosters MLB The Show
Firstly some of you make better looking players than the game itself makes. I only found the roster vault a few months ago in 19 and used the whole vault to put together an all time roster. I made a bunch of players that weren't in the vault and edited a lot of what was already out there. I think it has every player in the hall of fame and lots of people who could have played in the majors but never got to. I ported it over and uploaded it to 20 without any changes from 19 so people could steal anything they might want out of it for whatever they are working on. Its a good roster for baseball history types. It's in historic and it's called All time, all era, all league and there's something new in there for anyone making an all time roster to steal. In any case thanks to all of you creators who made all of this. I'm going to go play against the expos instead of nationals.Comment

Re: List of Classic Seasons & Historical Specialty Rosters MLB The Show
Just realized how it switched out some game made players for generics when I ported my roster over. I took down my roster and will put it back up after I replace whoever glitched out. It's still up in the 19 vault and I'll have it fixed and back up in 20 soon.Comment

1999 ROSTER NOW IN THE VAULT!!
Saturday, May 16 - 10:45 pm (EST)
All the information is noted in the last few posts. The missing 2000 prospect I couldn't recall was Terrence Long. I also added Joe Crede (CWS) and Toby Hall (TBD).
I updated all jersey numbers (but some can't be fixed). Also fixed were the pitchers with 0 durability ratings.
Under my PSN: mkharsh33 - "1999 SEASON"
Hope you guys enjoy it - it's THE MOST comprehensive file I've ever done here at OS in all the years I've been working on stuff like this. It makes the 1998 file I put out look embarrassing.
If you see anything you want updated - please let me know. Thanks!STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Fabulous work. I'm very impressed by the likeness of the player's faces. I spent a lot of time today going through rosters, standings and stats on baseball reference in anticipation of this roster release. What a fun trip down memory lane. Thank you for the hard work.1999 ROSTER NOW IN THE VAULT!!

Re: List of Classic Seasons & Historical Specialty Rosters MLB The Show
These are looking solid. Nice mix of legends and current players with hall of fame potential.
I like to setup playoffs with All-time teams and play through each series. Makes me wish there was a dedicated tournament set-up mode to expand the brackets to allow more teams instead of the 6 per side in playoffs.Comment

Re: List of Classic Seasons & Historical Specialty Rosters MLB The Show
I kinda do what you say you would like to do ...... I first run a Playoff Bracket & return the League Champ, The Championship game loser & the loser of the Divisional round to the eventual League Champ as 3 teams in the next Final Postseason Playoffs. Then I run a qualifying Playoff round of 5 teams and the two Divisional winners of each League advance to the Final Postseason bracket as the Wildcard teams for each League in the next Final Postseason Playoffs. These are looking solid. Nice mix of legends and current players with hall of fame potential.
I like to setup playoffs with All-time teams and play through each series. Makes me wish there was a dedicated tournament set-up mode to expand the brackets to allow more teams instead of the 6 per side in playoffs.
That works great for your basic 8 Team Leagues and when I want more Teams vying from each League I just set another level of Pre-Final Postseason Playoff brackets to see who advances. Such - IF I want 13 teams in each League vying form the Final Postseason Playoffs I would have two 5 team brackets in each qualifying Playoff round with the Champions from each advancing as the two Wildcard Teams into the Final Postseason Playoffs.
I move teams up and down the ladder of seeding positions in the next series of Playoffs scenarios depending on how they performed in the previous one.
So, If I increase my vying teams to 15 per League then I would have two Wildcard games only for the lowest level with each winner moving on as a Wildcard team in the next higher level. But if a single game scenario isn't of interest to you, as it isn't to me, then I just setup a Postseason and only used the Divisional Championships as my active series and just ignore the wildcard game and the other Divisional Championship game within that Postseason.
Hope this makes sense ...... I consider that a Full Season and just run them one after another using ONLY the Postseason mode to accomplish such.Comment
