Well I understand peoples reasoning for not having a Big 12 Championship for realism, I have seen several Big 12 schools get hosed because of it. My feelings are if the other Power 5 schools have one (Big Ten, ACC, SEC, Pac 12-12) then they need to have one as well cause another win most likely get's them in over a 2-loss team.

I love trying those, they get blown up from the back or near side much of the time, and I'm usually just looking to minimize the loss by making a smart quick cut, that time it worked to perfection.

Always been amused by the idea of guaranteeing wins, it's not like you can replace the loss with a win to make it right, like a car dealer standing behind their product. But let's see if Eddie can go out in a blaze of glory or pi55 someone off.

I know there are mods and I just don't think I'd be able to incorporate them successfully, plus I don't think all the manoeuvering is going to improve my experience much overall. Honestly, I didn't have much of a problem with the BCS and adding all the games to the schedule it's practically a pro season now for the top teams which I really think is a step down for the game. Either way.. They got hosed.

2021/2022 BCS National Championship Preview - #2 OU vs #1 Iowa

          A matchup of styles

There will be a lot of midwesterners filtering through Pasadena, CA in the next week. On New Year's Day, Wisconsin and Oregon will battle each other in the Rose Bowl. Five days later, the facility will gear up for the National Championship game featuring Iowa and Oklahoma. Both teams are more excited to play in the Rose Bowl than they would have been to play in any other destination.

This could be an offensive struggle but often times in big games, the teams come out tight. Both teams are in the top 5 in total offense, although they go about getting there in different ways.

Oklahoma loves to pass the ball and is well equipped to do so. Quarterback Tyler Hamby has put the ball in the air 434 times, sixth in the nation, and the Sooners lead the nation in passing yards. Yet they are +13 in turnovers, good for #1 in the nation. This is a formidable group without any identifiable weaknesses based on the numbers - although Hamby is not a runner by nature and therefore not a threat to consistently scramble for first downs when the coverage dictates. Cole Ginn is the third leading receiver in thenation, and his yards per catch average of 18.2 is the best of any player in the Top 10 in receiving yards. Ginn is tall and fast, as well as an incredible leaper. He runs good not great routes and doesn't always catch the ball well in traffic. Tight end Mike Brown, the team's second leading receiver, is the 2021 Mackey Award winner and went over 1,000 yards with 10 touchdown catches on the season. When starting left tackle Bob Gross was injured for much of the season, backup Chad Allen, a freshman, allowed 9 sacks. The starting left guard also allowed 9 sacks. However, the Hawkeyes don't have the type of interior rusher that should give them too many problems. Clark could think about surprising the line with some combination blitzes including hte middle linebackers, which have had success pressuring the QB at times out of the base 3-4 defense.

Iowa are to running the ball what Oklahoma are to the pass. Freshman Larry Lloyd already has 1,000 yards, whereas starter Kenard Goodman and quarterback Eddie Allen each have an outside shot at finishing with 1,000 yards, if either were to break off a few big plays. On paper, the Hawkeyes should have a difficult time fending off the talented defensive line of the Sooners. In fact, the Sooners may have the fewest weak points of any defense the Hawkeyes will face this year. However, the Oklahoma pass defense is just #116 in the nation - although the Big 12 is generally more of a passing league than most conferences. Tight end C.J. Terry has missed the past several weeks, yet remains the #2 receiver for the Hawkeyes - that shows just how well he and Eddie Allen were jelling when Terry went down.

"I'm excited to have C.J. back in the fold, obviously," said Allen. "We have a good connection and you saw that right off the bat. He's a stabilizing force for me and this team even though he's a rookie."

Clark Sounds off on Allen's Guarantee

Eddie Allen reiterated - again - that he guarantees a national championship for this Hawkeyes lineup. On one level, Coach Clark is naturally perturbed about such a statement and the potential distractions it could cause. On the other hand, however, Allen has guaranteed success for the Hawkeyes by way of his play.

"We're something like 39-2 with him as a starter," said Clark. "What am I supposed to do, get mad?"

Allen's first start was the 2018 Little Caesar's Bowl after he nearly led a comeback when Masin Barnes was injured against Nebraska in week 14. Clark apparently wasn't counting that win, as the team is actually 40-2 with Allen starting. But, point made. Clark has a winning percentage of 76% (91-29) overall, which jumps to 95% with Allen under center, and 65% without him.

"If we win the game and he made the guarantee, he'll be a legend. If we can't get it done, he'll have to face a lot of questions and look a little silly. It hasn't changed the way we've gone about our business. We're ready for action."

No matter what their record, that is one heck of a talented Oklahoma team. No out and out ratings studs, but basically every play either high 80s or in the 90s, plus a really good OLine. Looking back at your results, it's been so comfortable for you every single game this season (one win by less than 10 points) that it will be interesting to see how the team respond if they come under some adversity in the early going against a team with some definite talent. Good luck!

Wow. Like Moose said, they might have 2 loss's but that team is stacked. #2 scoring, #2 Rush Defense vs your rushing attack, will be interesting to see if Lloyd can get it going early and try and help slow down their passing attack. Eddie hasn't really had to air it out much this season of late, but their pass defense is horrible (#116) for a Power 5 team with 10 wins. It might be something Eddie can take advantage of but I don't see how cause Overall their secondary looks talented.

The game is now played and it was the best game of the season by far, with what you referenced there. I hope to get it up tonight. You hit the nail on the head with that analysis, they have a lot of weapons to throw at you and no weaknesses whatsoever.

I love the names of the 3 corners they put on the field in nickle. They sound like an old west gang.

It was an amazing game stylistically, a game that NCAA 14 can deliver once in awhile that you will remember for a long time.

What a win! I can't imagine how that must have felt pulling out the miracle Hail Mary at the end to win a national championship of all games. Eddie with a great final showing, as he needed to put the team on his back. Larry though, man, I don't know what we're gonna do with this guy. He seems to be made of glass, and I would assume he was going to be the focal point of your offense next season as you break in a new starting QB. Either way, 2 consecutive natties is a heck of an accomplishment, and it's even sweeter when you have to battle to get it!

It was over so quickly, and a win after I had come to grips with the fact that I was going to lose. Crazy feeling. I think things are going to change up quite a bit. Having someone like Allen leading the offense (Vick-like runner with great maybe not quite pinpoint accuracy for the most part). We simply don't have anyone that can do what he did moving forward, but we do have options. I don't want to "evolve" into a run only team, even if we were run heavy this year we always leaned toward mixing it up. At least one of my option style QBs coming in looks like a power runner, so it will be interesting to see if we can put together an offense anywhere near as good as this one, sans a really accurate QB.

It was a crazy feeling, one that really only NCAA 14 has ever provided me with. I've had a lot of great games with a lot of other versions of this game, don't get me wrong, but the ability to just make your mouth drop open with a good or bad play, and have THAT happen at that moment was insane. As for JUCO Larry.... Yeah, you're right, he has had a lot of injuries in his first year. I hope that moving forward he can be more consistently healthy for us. He has two more guaranteed years here through his senior year since he transferred as a sophomore, so we'll see how he does moving forward! Thank you bro.

The prediction here is that yes we'll reload and continue to be a really good team, but not if reload means just winning another conference or national title. I don't predict that will happen. Thank you man!

Yeah, he's an ATH WR/CB combo has played on offense and defense this year. Originally, we were going to start him at CB, and then work him in as the slot in some sets (flexing him out wide sometimes) and playing both ways consistently didn't work out that great because he got tired. At some point it became more of a case-by-case basis, one position or the other depending upon the matchup - we used him as the starting WR in one game and he led the team in catches and yards - but overall we have still needed him at CB. Without playing a second position he played much better at CB, not getting tired as often. He's so effective as a WR I'm thinking of making him primarily a WR in the offseason.

Overall he's tied for sixth on the team in receptions (16) with our starting slot receiver Doug Durbin. His 355 yards (22.1 avg) are good for fifth on the team, and he has 4 TD. This is obviously factoring in his latest reception :-)

Thanks mate! I hope the Huskers are able to build something special in the coming years, they are an excellent foil when going well. I recently realized what an insanely good coach y'all had there in the 90's and such. I really didn't understand what an insane coach Tom Osborne was! I almost saw that I-formation attack as cheese back in the day but it took some special coaching to run it to perfection like they did.

                              --------------

I have to say, that this brings to close a pretty special period of playing NCAA for me. I'm not stopping or anything, but I'm so happy with the career of Allen both from a success standpoint, but also from the fact that I felt the game really handled it well. Early on, it felt almost as if it was going to be too easy running the ball. And Allen, with 9,148 passing yards and 84 TD in his career against 44 TD was a very good passer . Vast majority of those INT were my fault although we had few great WR for him to throw to. On the rushing side, his 3,145 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns were a lot of fun to witness. But it never felt cheesy. I always wanted to play with a Vick-like QB, but felt that it would entail a lot of being very careful about "cheese." - As we ramped up with more option type plays over the past three years, I probably never ran more than 10 true read options in any game, but while mixing in designed runs, draws, and scrambles, the game never just broke. It never felt cheesy. Compare that 3,145, 7.2 avg, and 29 TD to Lamar Jackson in real life - 4,132, 6.3, 50 for Lamar. To see him break away and his individual talent take over games against better opponents was a lot of fun. To see Oklahoma keying on him constantly, giving up a couple of long runs but making him earn every yard and taking him down in the backfield time after time when we tried to run certain types of plays was amazing. - the fact that NCAA 14 held together and made it feel fun and like a major challenge at the same time is something I really appreciate as a video gamer. And which I would definitely still be saying if Halloway hadn't somehow come down with that pass.

I do user control my wide receivers some of the time, and I hadn't thought about the fact that the end zone was yellow - the same color as the ball target reticle. So if you already thought it was sheer luck... I'm here to confirm that. I had only a slight idea of where the ball would land. It was sheer, unmitigated luck and great hands by Halloway.
