EA Sports UFC 4 - Two Emotes - Thoughts?

    https://www.reddit.com/r/EASportsUFC...y_worse_clark/

I was upset that they butchered the online presentation but my god, I didn't think it'd get THIS ridiculous in terms of emotes.

So ea had time to add this stupid poses and mo cap them, but they didnt have time to add more positions on the ground, or cage work. Sad....just sad.

Honestly guys, this pissed me off until I gave up on looking at this as what I hoped it would be, I think this is the sentiment that some GCers were trying to send our way. And I don't say these things to bring down all the good things around the game too, because I've spotted a lot. It feels like the vision for this game was split and each side made concessions.

Knowing that they spent valuable resources on creating these silly animations and cosmetics, rather than additional fighting or TKO animations, that their most prominent content creator has requested regularly, makes me throw my hands up and go "Ok, this is what we're doing here"

I get it, UT wasn't killing and EA need another revenue stream. Upper management probably wants to avoid loot boxes, so this is the route. Still, you don't think taking the "grace" animation budget and using that to add another hook animation would overall be better? A fighting game with more fighting animations, the foundation would look better and people would feel this game is new. I can already see people responding to the new leg kick animations, this is what matters first.

Anyway, I'll accept this. And I'll do a grace dance with my lion headed CAF that is max height and with a body covered in tattoos.

While I think these are dumb and bad let’s remember that doing a mocap of these dances is orders of magnitude less complicated than strikes or ground positions. It isn’t like for each of these we could’ve had a different strike.

Granted, I would happily trade every single one for a Superman punch variation, but this isn’t a big deal.

Agreed, but in general, all of this vanity stuff is so wacky and unrealistic, is this where all the time and money went? Seriously? It's just upsetting that the majority of the budget didn't go into improving the core gameplay besides the clinch and takedown systems. I wouldn't mind the cosmetics if we had better gameplay first.

In general, I wouldn't mind if there were less, but more realistic cosmetics.

Fortnite sells skins and emotes and has been super successful. It’s the current high profitability games model. Of course they would implement all of this into UFC. Buckle up boys, this is just the beginning. Just like EA to charge a full $60 and then run the free to play business model within. Gross.

They have Brock Lesnars post fight celebrations in there. He’s gotta be in this game no?

His celebration was in UFC 3... sort of. Brad Tavares' celebration in the CAF menu was Lesnar's, but in game it wasn't the same. Could be the same here, but hopefully not.

Yeah I could care less about this being in but if I don’t see added strike animations and grappling animations being prioritized in patches , updates and the next games then I’m gonna be pissed. While it’s a bit over the top, I’m not sure there is ever a “right” time to add this stuff in the eyes of the fans.

There will ALWAYS be gameplay needs and improvements.

Personally I’d prefer the focus the be on gameplay almost entirely. I could live without kumite, backyard, emotes, etc. but I’m an MMA purist

While I agree with this sentiment I think we can all say that the best time isn’t when 99% of the roster throws the same hooks /uppercuts and has the same grappling animations

This in my opinion, is the number one problem with gaming in general. It has become so monkey see monkey do. Every few years a game with come out that’s pretty original, and as soon as it has a modicum of success (fortnite,GTA) everyone starts tripping over there feet to try and copy that model.

Let fortnite be Fortnite, and let UFC be UFC. You are never going to pull in the 10 year olds that play fortnite when they are not even allowed to watch the sport this game is supposed to replicate. Stop trying to be some thing your not, and just focus on what you can do separately to stand out.

This thread has made me more annoyed then I have been in a long time. UFC 2 in my opinion was such a huge step in the right direction and each iteration after (3 and 4) are looking like disappointments. I think this team really needs to take a step back and figure out what their vision is, because trying to dip your finger in so many different flavors is going to leave no one happy
