No clinch for Vanderlei?

Just had my first match with him and it seems that you can't initiate a clinch with him.

Anyone else notice?

He just keeps throwing hooks.

You have to just very quickly tap the face button whilst holding the clinch modifier. If you hold the face button for longer than a split second it will throw a hook instead.

I had the exact same issue. Lost a fight because of it. Was dominating until I decided to try and clinch, but no matter what I did, the clinch wouldn’t initiate. Just constant lead over hands. I was being stubborn and eventually my opponent KOd me while I kept trying to clinch.

I know I’m supposed to just tap, because holding throws the overhand. I tried the same thing using Rumble since I knew he had lead over hands. I had zero issue initiating the clinch with him, and I also could throw over hands easy too. Wanderlei is the only fighter I’ve had the issue with, it’s almost as if he doesn’t have a clinch.

I figured out the problem. After the patch if you just tap the bumper and lead jab it will go for the clinch animation but not actually grab the opponent. It was working during EA access so maybe it was a conscious change so you can “feint” the clinch now. Now to actually lock in the single collar clinch you have to press forward with the clinch input to actually initiate the clinch it seems

There was a known bug during early access that removed clinch attempts and overhands from some fighters. John Lineker was an example. Report any missing moves that the fighter has in their movesets in case any bugs persist

I played multiple games last night with a ton of different fighters; all of them were able to clinch except Vanderlei.

Try pressing forward on the left stick while holding the right bumper and tapping jab. See if that works. I was able to clinch with Wanderlei during EA Access so give that a shot

PS4. fight now. pro AI.

Same issue with Evan Dunham. He only throws a hook when you try to initiate clinch.

He also doesn't throw an overhand, just hooks.

Lead Front Kick is also showing up under "punches" in his "view moves" screen.
