Quite the glowing review! A bummer that Solo Societies were again unmentioned, and even Online Societies appear to be stripped down.

Also got a kick out of this line about the crowds in the game: "The only thing really missing is someone screaming “Bababooey!” after a drive."

I remember that being an actual knock on Rory McIlroy PGA Tour...that the "Bababooey!" yell was actually in the game when you'd hit a tee shot!

I think solo society is out. Asked Jim Gem in one of his new vids today.....

Edit: Yep, just confirmed by Respawn over at HB forum.......

Gotta go the EA route here, and tout it as an addition when they bring it back!

Well, that's garbage along with the Online Societies being stripped, no buy from me for a long while.

Looks great! Excited to have a golf game coming out and looking forward to playing.

Curious about how the career mode "seasons" work and I cant seem to find an answer however. How many "years" does career mode last?

I asked this elsewhere, and didn't get an answer. However, from watching the videos that streamers did, it appeared that some sponsor goals are quite long-term, and can only be done at certain events in the schedule. So it has to be quite a few years.

Does anyone know if you can play locally against each other with you both using your created golfers?

My wife and I really would like to play against each other but past games have made it so only one player can use their created golfer and the other player uses a generic player.

Golf club games are very hard for someone like me who is a casual golf gamer.  i really liked the TW series as it gave you options to dumb down the game or smarten the game to the user abilities.

I know 2K has difficult levels but I like how TW use to have that bar behind the club to show you how far you needed to pull on the stick to get it close to the hole.  Those type of visual aids I miss.

Does this game have those like TW did?

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Review: Challenging the Legacy of EA's Tiger Woods Series

In regards to solo societies being removed:

If anyone is as nerdy and odd as I am, I have a solution. It's only fun depending on what type of person you are.

I just got everything set up, and have done three events so far on 2019 (and will continue with 2K21), but I'm essentially running my own PGA Tour, offline, and mostly out of the game.

The default career mode looks like a big improvement this year, but not being able to rename golfers or play on whatever courses you want is, to me, a huge bummer.

So, what I’m doing is playing a round on the course for the event, I log my score into a spreadsheet and for the rest of the field I generate their scores, round by round. I make cuts, (I’ve missed two), I track winners, top ten finishes, overall events and rounds played, as well as scoring average.

To generate the scores for the AI, scoring average is what I focused on. I currently have a field of 248 real players, plus myself. The AI players are broken into five different tiers of players (I'm a very casual fan, so the tiers were created using last season's rankings)—the higher the tier, the more likely they are to score better, but they won’t always win. I can control who I put in what event, especially based on tier, so in the first three events I’ve done of my season nobody from the top two tiers has played yet.

I have everything set up in Excel, and it’s just wonderful. So far the score generation formula is working well, but it’ll take way more time to know where adjustments need to be made, and what tiers are scoring too high or low. But, for right now, I love this as I have complete control and it’s my own PGA universe.

I’ve mentioned it over on the TGC Tours forum, and if there are people interested, I can create a thread here and even share the spreadsheets, formula for generating the scores, etc.

After three events, here’s the top 15 so far. Only three events, but I’m loving the score averages I’m seeing so far. As for the flags, they’re not yet updated for everyone!

So, if anyone else crazy like me and interested in knowing more, let me know.

This version does have a power bar that shows you how far your backswing should be.

No playoff holes in the event of a tie? How hard is it to implement this? I remember the last Rory McIlroy EA game was like that too. Still excited about picking this up tomorrow.

Tiger Woods 14 was the last game that had actual playoffs in it, and it even had the proper playoffs based on event. For example, if you tied in the U.S. Open, you had to play an 18-hole round to decide the winner, just like in real life.

I have the game pre ordered on Xbox and just tried the change the system location setting to New Zealand to try and play early. It didn’t work. Works for a lot of games so it was worth a shot.
