The hype curve for a new Madden game is a vicious self-repeating cycle with no end in sight. Every year the classic franchise mode receives little to no changes at all, every year EA recommits to focus on the mode next year as an olive branch to the hardcore community eager for depth and customization, and every year that core audience is let down again.

All they added this year was the Oakley visor and a few new face options. That's all...
Not optimistic about their franchise 2021/22 roadmap either. They will do the minimum but they clearly don't see franchise as a priority (revenue generator) and will only minimally support it if it makes them look bad. Really wish they didn't have the simulation rights... All these great features in the Yard and FOTF that we've been asking for for years and they still didn't bother to add it to this mode. -

Do the right thing;
Put this dying mode out of its misery.
Its cruel and inhumane to keep it alive at this point.
Its not pacifying anyone at this point, just further embittering a significant portion of the fanbase.You want free speech?

I'll be honest, I've watched a lot of Madden content today, and I'm a franchise simulation guy.
I mean, I didn't expect much, but I knew they had promised some things and they may deliver on patches...... but......DAYUM

They spent the whole year getting us the Oakley visor and like 5 new face options. Meanwhile, the Yard got our equipment and player customizing wishlist... Not optimistic about the patches. Clear they want to get by with minimal effort to franchise.Comment

2K whispered that they were making an arcade football game and EA dropped franchise mode in a ditch to create a brand new, fully featured mode in the yard. Never discount the power of competition.

I played fifa for the first time this year ever and I don’t understand how madden and FIFA are the same company. Even something as simple as being able to sit down and negotiate a contract I thought was absolutely amazing. I wonder why madden can’t do that. I’m tired of sticking up for madden. I have for years I feel like.

To be fair, EA hardly spent any time with franchise over the last several years not just this year. It's always been something else - the Yard, FOTF, Longshot, MUT, SuperStar Mode... They have no interest in supporting Franchise unless it hurts them revenue-wise or PR wise and even after they will do the absolute minimum. Madden is always a year behind fifa though and this year is no exception. #FixCareerMode was a thing looooong before #FixMaddenFranchise. I've been playing the Fifa 21 beta this week and they have done an incredible job with the mode in response to the outcry. We'll see if Madden follows with that part of it, but they certainly followed fifa's lead by tossing the mode out in the dump this year.Comment

You must be new to FIFA. It hadn't been touched in years before 21. Career Mode in FIFA 20 was an unplayable jumble of bugs for the first few months after release last year. FIFA is moving forward now, but it's the first time they have in a very, very long time. The mode was basically untouched since i got back into it 6 years ago.Comment

I don't know why these posts keep coming up. Spend 5 minutes and look at the criticism levied against EA over the years - its incredible. Look at their engine. They bought out another company, an inferior engine too, just to maximize profits. I mean its whatever.
I find it hilarious though how many posts were made here quoting EA saying they're doing all this work on franchise. They just straight up lied. I honestly couldn't stop laughing when I saw franchise mode. I mean, I didn't expect any changes but I also thought because of the big social media campaign and their subsequent promises of adding to franchise...Comment
