That DT at 6'5" 316 lbs and 3-stars would be a huge addition to the D-line. Literally and figuratively!

Re: The Rise of the Carnegie Mellon Tartans (NCAA Football 07)
I knew that would be your reaction, haha. Brutal year for virtual Pitt with its rivals potentially clashing for the national title and it struggling at 3-7.
Outside of that first year in NCAA 07, the Panthers haven't really been much of a figure on the national scale and I know how the Big East usually sims to the point where it's one power (WVU), a mid-tier (Louisville), and then a bunch of minnows. Even though I haven't knocked them off yet at CMU, I'm debating taking over Pitt with a created coach to just bump up their talent level in recruiting and the fall camp drills, so that they're moreso in the national picture and provide a tougher challenge for the Tartans.
It's definitely been a solid in-season class thus far, but I really need to land a couple of verbal commits and figured I would have done so already with the five wins. I'm worried about all these soft commits and them going elsewhere after their other official visits, and I'm not leading for any of this trio so I worry that I won't be able to bring any of them in.Comment

Kent State Golden Flashes (5-5, 3-3 MAC) at Carnegie Mellon Tartans (5-5, 4-2 MAC)
Saturday, November 21, 2009 | 12:30 PM (ET)
Pittsburgh, Pa. – Gesling Stadium | FSN Pittsburgh
Team Overview (C overall, C+ offense, C- defense)
With three straight wins, Kent State has caught fire at the right time and could force itself into the MAC Championship Game with two more wins and an Ohio loss. The Golden Flashes have been competitive in each of their losses too, with only one defeat coming by more than a score – a 28-14 blemish at Iowa State in the second week. However, KSU also has itself to blame for the position it is in, as it blew a 21-10 halftime lead at Ohio and a 28-24 fourth-quarter advantage at Eastern Michigan.
Despite standing at five-foot-five, 161 pounds, redshirt senior tailback Eugene Jarvis (162 carries, 1,141 yards, 9 TD; 22 catches, 245 yards, 5 TD) is one of the most dynamic runningbacks in the nation. He has achieved his third consecutive 1,000-yard season the ground this year, totaling 3,424 yards and 33 scores to go along with 64 catches, 891 yards, and 10 touchdowns in the passing game. Behind him is talented sophomore Brock Fitzhenry (22 carries, 127 yards; 5 catches, 118 yards, 1 TD) and junior college transfer Jacob Barnett (52 carries, 320 yards, 5 TD; 1 catch, 15 yards, 1 TD). When the Golden Flashes do take to the air, fifth-year senior Anthony Magazu (126.0 QB rtg., 170-304, 2,068 yards, 18 TD, 10 INT) is the one slinging it, and the first-year starter has a senior trio in Darren Rogers (54 catches, 691 yards, 4 TD), Phil Garner (42 catches, 498 yards, 4 TD), and Coleman Lynn (24 catches, 280 yards, 1 TD) to throw to.
KSU’s 3-4 defense is boosted by a talented coverage unit, led by senior strong safety Kirk Belgrave (17 tackles, 7 INT), who is among the nation’s leaders in interceptions. Redshirt senior linebacker Lester Troutman (38 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 INT) also excels against the pass, collecting 13 deflections this year. Fifth-year free safety B.G. Walters (26 tackles, 3 INT) gives the Golden Flashes a solid 1-2 punch in the defensive backfield, and true freshman Chauncey Washington (50 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 FF) has done a solid job manning the middle in his debut season. The defensive line suffered a hit last weekend with the loss of senior defensive end Kevin Hogan (27 tackles, 2 sacks), and little-used redshirt sophomore Monte Simmons (9 tackles) will take his place.
Freshman kicker Kevin Mays (5-14 FG, 36-37 XP) has struggled in his first season and been a big reason why the team has lost so many close games. Senior punter Jake Kilroy (35 punts, 1,552 yards, 44.3 avg., 11 inside 20) is solid in the field position battle, and was a Preseason All-MAC selection. In the returning game, Jarvis (19 kick returns, 447 yards; 19 punt returns, 144 yards) is a threat to score whenever it’s kicked his way.

Season 4, Game 11: Kent State at Carnegie Mellon
A Perfect Strike: Tartans Knock Down Sixth Win
Now bowl eligible, Carnegie Mellon can claim a share of the MAC East Division title with a win next week

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Thanks to another flying start – this one of 20 straight points to begin the game – Carnegie Mellon has reached bowl eligibility with its sixth win this afternoon, a 34-21 decision over Kent State at Gesling Stadium.
Carnegie Mellon (6-5, 5-2 MAC) has reached the bowl game standard in just its second FBS season and fourth season overall as a Division I program. The Tartans also have put themselves in position for a possible Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship Game berth, needing a win in their regular-season finale next week against Buffalo to force a tiebreaker situation.
“I’ve said it a lot over these last few weeks but I’m really proud of these guys,” said CMU fourth-year head coach John Elliott. “We knew what was at stake today and didn’t put too much pressure on ourselves in order to accomplish our goal. The defense was rock solid and really did a great job at holding (Eugene) Jarvis in check, it seemed like they have something to prove after last week. And I was impressed with how Kevin (Wilson) came into the game cold and kept our offense moving.”
Despite losing starting quarterback Justin Keyes twice due to an elbow injury, the CMU offense was methodical in all facets, with a lone Nate Satele fumble being the only blemish. The attack began following a Matt Johnson interception on Kent State’s (5-6, 3-4 MAC) opening drive, as Keyes cashed in on a one-yard sneak to put the hosts ahead 7-0.
Calvin Burton then arrived at the turnover party by recovering his own forced fumble, and on the very next play Jim Manning went 44 yards on a Keyes screen pass to double the advantage. Todd Andriano snagged an errant Anthony Magazu throw on the Golden Flashes’ next attempt, and that drive ended in a Jon Foster 22-yard field goal following Keyes’ first departure.
Keyes, who returned to the game a drive later, went out for good in the third quarter after a Kirk Belgrave sack. KSU dented the scoreboard on the ensuing drive with a Magazu 10-yard toss to Coleman Lynn, but Kevin Wilson answered with the first touchdown pass of his career – a 44-yard strike to Kevin Cousins to make it 27-7.
The Tartans sealed the game early in the fourth quarter after Manning took a direct snap and raced 67 yards for a score. CMU had an opportunity to add to its lead but Satele fumbled in the red zone, the sixth of the season for the backup runningback. Andriano kept the visitors off the scoreboard briefly with a red zone turnover of his own on a second interception, but the Golden Flashes would add a pair of garbage time touchdowns with their backup quarterback.
Manning nearly hit 200 yards for the third time in four games, finishing with 197 on 22 carries. Cousins reached the century mark receiving with 129 yards on eight catches, and Wilson finished 10-of-14 passing for 118 yards and the aforementioned score.
Jarvis was held to 60 yards rushing on 14 carries for Kent State.

Big win, gotta feel great to get to bowl eligibility! Manning playing well as usual, backup coming into the game and managing well. 7-8 wins this year would be dope, hoping the Tartans keep it going.

Re: The Rise of the Carnegie Mellon Tartans (NCAA Football 07)
What a big win despite having two-platoon QBs! Helps having Manning back there. 37-7 going into the fourth- domination!
Is it a typo that Andrew Luck is at Texas Tech and Dez Bryant at Miami or did you create them as prospects?Comment
-
Re: The Rise of the Carnegie Mellon Tartans (NCAA Football 07)
Funny enough, Texas Tech actually has Luck, RG3, and Terrelle Pryor as quarterbacks on its roster - three of the 10 (?) prospects I actually created in that class. Bryant's quarterback at Miami is Cam Newton. Even the lesser programs will get legitimate real-life players, like Maryland who has former NFL players Isaiah Pead, Andre Ellington, and Courtney Upshaw on its roster.Comment
