EA has to fix the running game

The Madden 21 Running game is awful. Every year we see this problem and my fear is that EA in trying to fix it will ruin some positive aspects that I saw in the new game. it is unacceptable that an RB has a completely free path in front of him with the possibility of advancing more than 10 yards and he runs into a DE or OLB. The same happens with a WR who receives the pass and instead of trying to distance himself from his opponent, go inside the field, facilitating the work for the opponent.

Can you perhaps try to explain what you mean better here? I'm having a hard time following what you're talking about.

I have had ZERO issues with the running game, and I'm on All Madden. Maybe you need t practice some.

          I think so too.

And frankly, while there are occasional issues, the path finding isn't bad at all on either default AP (with ballhawk on) or default AM (with it on or off).

The other thing, there is a definite difference in how well poorly-rated ball carriers move vs the high-end players.

He can also be talking about USER RB for those of us that don't control everything.

When we asked 2 versions ago about the same things (the one in particular -our WR catching the ball etc.. when we play no switch and no user catching etc..)

That was the answer. "Switch to them and do it yourself"

I would agree for the first time ever in Madden...this is actually great this year on All-Pro

Re: EA has to fix the runnig game

I am only referring to the Cpu backs here...for me I don’t see the top backs or ones I create run as expected.

What I mean is not so much their path...that seems better than last year, I’m talking about a clear foot plant cut and making someone “miss“...not there no matter what Juke rating 99 ex.

In fact and I must test more ..I don’t see any difference in a 99 Juke back to a 50 Juke back

Also I don’t see any difference in strength or a trucking type runner - they don’t “break tackles” utilize their stiff arm ..no matter the rating 99 ex. Connerbacks take down 99 “strength “ back with ease ..

Now I don’t play with superstar abilities on...because I can’t stand the non removable Icons...maybe that is key..also I know from last year that the higher the fumble rating the more animated the runner will be..but then fumbles disappear...just like last year...so I might have to raise fumble rating I have it on 55

So in summary ...I was able to tweak with sliders and player attributes Madden 20 running so as to tone down and have them make better cuts ...but this year I can’t seem to do this ..They don’t make people miss and or won’t truck or break tackles really...

COD...the player attribute that essentially has supposedly replaced elusiveness...I’m wondering if that has nerfed or did something to the running game. I personally don’t see a change with it at 99 or zero rating..
In closing I guess this year I don’t see any difference out side of “speed” in any of the running styles you can create or enhance they all seem generic..need to test more...just my opinion

For the record I completely agree that CPU running needs to be better but I gotta say it's a bazillion times better than it was last year when the CPU runner would juke or skill move into a tackler.

Again though, just because its better doesn't mean it's good enough.

Having no problems here. Backs are actually pretty dynamic when supposed to be as per ratings.

I agree. Christian McCaffrey straight up juked my DB to death last game and broke off a 45yd run. I can tell the difference between the backs. Lots better than last year.

Though I will concede there are some issues; it appears on Frostbite that the CPU ball carrier is unaware of any other player except those that occupy some predefined radius in front of them. . What I mean to say is that a back could easily get a first down or more if they continued moving diagonally/laterally instead of moving forward, giving the defender an easier path for pusuit.

Re: EA has to fix the running game

I think the running game is excellent this year. It feels as realistic as it's ever felt imo. Most runs are 3-4 yards gains, some are blown up at or behind the LOS, and the odd one goes for 15-20. I also feel like the running game is pretty balanced between USER and CPU.

The only issue I have with running this year is that CPU players sometimes make tackles that they shouldn't be able to make, especially when engaged in a block. There's a clear hole, but your RB goes down as soon as he hits it because the CPU lineman is somehow able to reach out with one arm and drag you down.

I also had one awful tackle animation trigger when there was literally no one within two yards of me. Burst through the line, and some invisible force is dragging me backwards and to the ground.

There are definitely still some kinks and bugs that crop up occasional but, for the most part, I like the run game a lot.

Re: EA has to fix the running game

I totally agree that it is both better but not yet good enough. I’m having too many games where guys just get tackled without putting up much of a fight. That is to say; they don’t seem to even be attempting to pull off any skills to get free. That’s not dynamic enough For the games I hope to have and doesn’t resemble real football IMO. Time after time a CPU RB will break free, only to get sucked into a tackle due to a hard lateral plant, when they could have just gone straight for major gains instead of the hard veer.

With that said, even in lieu of the overwhelming amount of complaints, I am having more fun with this iteration of Madden than I have in years. Go figure!! Last year around this time, I was already bored of Madden. I can deal with it how it is right now. I think imma hold off on updates in fear of them rendering it a bore for me.

The biggest CPU run game issue I'm seeing is that they don't run the ball enough.

Funny how in previous years madden, well least madden 19 and earlier, we were saying the opposite
