I've come to accepting that until most of the players get better at the sub mini games, the developers won't buff them. In the meantime time, I will continue to play ranked knowing that even if I'm completely gassed, I can escape every limb submission and most chokes. And when I say escape limb submissions, I mean it's not even freaking close.

I literally had 0 subs on ufc 3 after like 4000-5000 matches. I've gotten like 150 in UFC 4 even after they made them harder. I can only get the joint submissions though, I suck at the choke mini game.Comment

joint subs are in a good place imo, i was able to tap out a div 20 player.
Choke subs need a bigger penalty for people flicking their sticks or circling fast.Comment

Submissions should serve a bigger purpose than a simple "win now because opponent has low stamina".¯\_(ツ)_/¯Comment

What’s that purpose? Because now subs rarely even show up on the highlight between rounds. Before if you got a three gate sub or a sub at the end of the round in progress it would be shown.Comment

It's pretty stale if submissions go from irrelevant to game winning purely based on stamina. I don't mind the idea of being able to just clinch someone and choking them out but obviously there needs to be a more meaningful counterplay mechanic than what was available on launch.
I think something like headlock position could easily be expanded on by including strikes, the ability to drag the opponent down to sprawl position and taking the opponent's back. Threatening submissions can create a theoretically interesting dynamic where your main concern is defending the submission but you can also anticipate and counter the other options. Conversely, I find back sitting to be a pretty boring position as there's low threat from both strikes and submissions.¯\_(ツ)_/¯Comment

I agree on there should be more to positions like front headlock. All gates should be positions that you can strike, transition, or move from. Subs should also have stamina active during subs. There should be submission cancels too. I think all that is possible with TBS. But as it is now subs arent as viable. I'm not saying low stamina should be a death sentence but I think they should be as dangerous as UFC 3.Comment
