    Using generic offensive playbooks

Just wondering if anyone was using a generic offensive playbook? Was just wondering if you are if this year it shows up in formations subs and when they show the starting lineups is it accurate to the defense you choose 3-4 for example or do they all default to the 4-3?

    Thanks

Have they finally made generic playbooks customizable or usable as a scheme in franchise mode? Such a stupid thing to remove from the game and they won’t get another penny from me until they bring it back

Plays and formations which are unique to the non-team books have NEVER been available for custom books and you have never been able to set a non-team book as your default in CFM.

In madden 15 you could use the non team books in cfm and assign them. That game had the classic coaches books like Madden, Lombardi, Bill Walsh. I just popped this game in a few weeks ago before 21 came out.

You could also use the plays from those books in custom books. I think this was the last time you could do this. I don’t really remember madden 16. May’ve been on that one. But i believe 16 is when they took out the Legendary Coach’s playbooks.

Losing those books was a huge hit for classic roster makers. Those Legend’s books had the old school pro set and far/near formations.

Yea when creating a coach I wish they would let us pick a generic playbook inside franchise mode instead of having to do it before every single game.

Yeah they have no time to fix these things because they had to make the "yard". So stupid. So has anyone tried using them yet and if they affect showing the correct starting line ups? I dont have the game yet so I was curious

Whats frustrating is, why remove them? They weren't broken. And they're not even considerably outdated. Plenty of teams use the fullhouse backfield, which is not that much different than the split, or the far/near

For us cpu vs cpu users let us use custom playbooks on both teams without the work around and also have a true coach mode.

Please repeat after me. EVERYTHING YOU JUST SAID IS A LIE.

As the poster below your post stated, all of these things were available in madden 15. I know this because I’m still playing it to this day because I want to run my custom ‘run and shoot’ playbook. They took this capability out of the game (much like they do anything that is perceived as a positive from the madden community) and gave a a bogus excuse of not having enough room to add new plays and keep the specialty playbooks in franchise mode. 5-6 years later and it still hasn’t been resolved. This company doesn’t value their customers because they know there will always be people like you who cover and lie for them, so long as your specific gaming must haves are being met. Like I said, they won’t get another penny from me. The work that the modding community for madden PC has done over the past few years is proving that the development team is just lazy and don’t care to make any worthwhile improvements on franchise mode, so long as they are a monopoly. Stop supporting these crooks

                    Re: Using generic offensive playbooks

I don’t think ea realizes they could double dip on extra money for people like us. I’d happily pay for more playbooks, older stadiums, rosters. I’d do it in a heartbeat. I remember in madden 10 i think they had a Presentation add-on that made it look like a 60s, 70s broadcast. Wish i could still use that today. Also sold the uniforms from the past that year.

Yes, it sucks to pay for extra stuff. But it’s better than not having it all. It’s like the 30 and up crowd that’s played the game since it’s early days doesn’t matter anymore. And we’ve got to be a pretty big group.

How were you able to customize legendary coach playbooks? I recently fired up madden 15 again and have tried to use some of Joe Gibbs plays but their playbooks don’t show up as customizable. Is there something you have to unlock first before you can use them?

I’ll have to throw on 15. Been a few months since I looked at it.

Just thought about it. Those plays are available, the books just aren’t. You have to go to all plays and find those formations I believe.

                            madden plays

There is a site where you can look up plays, playbooks, etc. called madden focus. It is helpful in locating specifics. I remember the joe gibbs playbook and wanting to run his counter tre. I couldn't find it anywhere and you could only use those special books of plays in franchise. Updating of the playbooks is needed. Team specific plays to replace the generic type ones, which are repeated in most every book, just using a different name. It would be nice to be able to have all the plays available, and not under teams and the seperate live ones.

No, a lot of the legendary coach formations aren’t available in the all plays pool to customize. The specialty playbooks are available (west coast, run and shoot, pistol) but the ones for actual coaches aren’t. I just wasn’t sure if there was something you had to unlock in MUT in order to access those legendary coach playbooks for customization. The Joe Gibbs playbook has some unique plays and formations in it that I wanted to sprinkle into my custom. Thanks for looking though!
