Suggestions for stealing?
Never have I had this issue... sliders are 5 but Anderson and Engle get thrown out by a country mile. It’s like I let the L2 go to time it but the catcher throws them out from his knees!?Tags: None -
Re: Suggestions for stealing?
The only success I’ve had stealing is when I press L2 while pointing the left stick at first base. If I hold L2 I tend to get picked off. Same with just pressing L2 by itself.
I had 119 stolen bases with Billy Hamilton before he got hurt in my franchise.Come on down and see the idiot right here -
Re: Suggestions for stealing?
Ive practically given up on stealing. What I do if in certain situations is going Quick manage and and steal from there. Whatever happens happens. This game is so broken when stealing (and bunting - I do the same thing) is concerned, I'll take the dice roll over me being successful at it.Comment

Shame it has to be that way but it's not the end of the world.Comment

Re: Suggestions for stealing?
Can't remember where I read it, but if you hit L2 (steal) and then hold down on L1(Lead off) it works for some reason (I don't know, maybe they get a better jump?) But yeah, since I started doing that I find that stealing is actually possible. Maybe it's a placebo, but I dunno, what have you got to lose?Comment

Press L2 to que the steal.
Wait for the pitcher to get ready to go home and then I press L1 to get a better lead/jump for the steal.
Is it 100% successful? No and nor should it be, but I have good success stealing bases doing this and have for a few iterations of the Show.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Suggestions for stealing?
There is one cavat to this method. If you don't do this before the first pitch it will reset the count to either 1-0 or 0-1 or a result will happen. It can be cheesed to an wxtent but until otherwise.Comment

Re: Suggestions for stealing?
The computer seems to never get caught tho which is crazy. Honest to god when the CPU gets on I lower the baserunner steal ability and when I get on and plan on trying a steal I raise baserunner steal ability all the way and speed by one click. It’s kind of immersion breaking and lame but it’s not too bad with the way of base all today with less steals and runners on since the HR #s.
Although when I get to the 2nd year of my franchise I’m going to do a league wide rating adjustment to get more steals and less Ks and Hrs in baseball. Wish they’d offer rule change options like 2k but I can make my own in my head.Comment

Re: Suggestions for stealing?
Queue it up with L2 then hold L1 until the pitcher starts his motion. NOTHING else works IMO. I went a whole season without stealing until someone suggested this. Now I'm leading the league realistically.

Re: Suggestions for stealing?
With Armor's sliders, using the Mariners, I'm leading the league by a long shot in stealing (Though Dee Gordon, Jake Fraley and Tyler O'Neil *trade*, are all burners).
I'll never steal on the first pitch of an at bat (Even using quick counts). After a couple of pitches, I just press L2 to cue it up, and have had incredible success with it.
Hopefully this helps!2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

Re: Suggestions for stealing?
If I remember correctly I think this signals the runner to take off on first move. I've had my runner picked off/caught stealing several times using this method. So be careful...MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies
NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins
NBA: Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic
NCAA: Penn State Nittany Lions, Boston College EaglesComment
