Shot Aiming More Forgiving Post Patch
Literally 12 hours ago I was in 2kU still trying to give shot aiming a chance and was missing shots close to the sweet spot and could never make one. This morning after the patch I am hitting a much higher percentage and the aiming is more forgiving if you’re close enough to the sweet spot. I Think the aiming was solely to combat the latency issues online and not to be a punishment for being slightly off. I feel as though they did it right finally but I know a lot of people will complain about how many shots are made but only time will tellTags: None -

The aiming is terrible for me some games. The same lag that will affect your button push, is 10 times more disruptive when trying to aim for the shot stick. Aiming is impossible for me with Lag.Psn: Alabamarob

Re: Shot Aiming More Forgiving Post Patch
I'm not even sure if its all latency or if its a combination of that and the fact that most used controllers don't have that fine of accuracy on the stick. I find even the smallest adjustments dramatically moving the aiming point many times.Comment

Re: Shot Aiming More Forgiving Post Patch
My controller that has pretty fair amount of stick drift (I have to use 0.17 deadzone on Call of Duty Warzone to even get it to stop moving by itself) is near impossible to shoot with the stick. However, it's much more manageable using one of the longer kontrol freeks that I also use for CoD.Comment

Re: Shot Aiming More Forgiving Post Patch
I'm all in on the aim stick now. Even on finishing. I hope it sticks around. I honestly don't think I can go back to timing.
I feel like it eliminates situations where you won't take certain shots because of the awkwardness of the timing...full library is open.Comment

Have you tried shooting with the meter off?

I do a combination of different things. No meter. I shot jumpers with the button. I shot layups with the stick but timing. I use shot aiming with no meter only for John Collins, because his shot is glitched on the button.
I prefer layups with timing, because it is the only shot process that allows you to alter layups at will. Altering layups at will can draw fouls, and allow you to score in traffic.
Have you figured out a way to alter a “layup” with the aim option?Psn: Alabamarob

Re: Shot Aiming More Forgiving Post Patch
It was pretty forgiving pre-patch too, though I did have the occasional stinker.

Tisk, tisk 24. Haha. When you spoke of aiming, I assumed you meant with the meter on. Do you shoot aim with the meter or without?

Started playing around with my options and settled on meterless stick shooting. Only thing I haven't fully converted on is free throws.
I originally used stick timing for layups, but I discovered how much more I covert with aiming and haven't looked back.
Yeah I've got altering layups down.Comment

I originally was using the meter last time we talked about it, haha.

Re: Shot Aiming More Forgiving Post Patch
aiming is muah for FTs. i don't mess with it otherwise. I wish you could do LAYUPS only because I like that. I had on shot aiming to practice and I'd accidentally shoot some amazing lay ups using the up stick. It's like ha.
TBH it's like BRAIN EXPLODES for non button jump shooting in action. If I had some idea of how the mechanics worked more than watching the meter, I could do it.

Re: Shot Aiming More Forgiving Post Patch
I am both intrigued and intimidated by shot aiming. I'm an oldhead and have always been a button shooter since Double Dribble lol. When they first came out with the shot stick, I tried it for like 5 minutes and determined I didn't like it.
I don't know what to think of shot aiming. I almost feel like this is going to be similar to how people perceived Madden's vision cone. It seems a lot of people are finding it to be an unnecessary addition, a little bit hokey, but there are a few that are embracing and enjoying it. I feel like people are more appreciative of madden's vision cone innovation 15 years later than they were back then...and the same might be said of shot aiming 15 years from now.
I should mention that I am strictly an offline vs CPU myLeague player on BROADCAST camera. I do wonder what the percentage is of people who do enjoy shot aiming, how many of them play on BROADCAST cam vs 2K. I feel maybe its much easier to like if you are playing on 2K cam. I wonder the same for people who play strictly offline vs the CPU vs people who play online.
I was terrible shooting with the shot stick, but admittedly did not give it much of a chance because i've always been perfectly ok with button shooting. I feel like shot aiming is the hardest way to shoot. So i just feel like i would be trying to get used to shooting with the stick PLUS aiming...just a little intimidating.
But I am willing to give it more of a try after watching Da_Czar's shooting tips videos. He makes things sound sensical and even makes me question my own thoughts lol. Maybe its his voice, I don't know.
All that being said, like Da_Czar said in the video, it is an OPTION....it's not the only way to shoot. The main think I give 2K credit for is the amount of OPTIONS they provide the user whether it be for oldheads like me stuck in their ways or hardcore online 2K stick masters...options are there to try and get everyone to enjoy the game to their liking....yet people will still complain about not having more lol."Basketball is my favorite sport
