I wonder if this will bring back a semblance of CPU running game on all-pro and get rid of the dropback sacks Humans are getting versus the CPU.

CPU QB play has regressed from early on mainly with pocket passers.

I try to stay on OOB but even when I check not to auto download updates my PS4 still does it anyway and I can't take the thing offline because it's our media center for Netflix, Disney+, etc. Kind of stinks.

No mention of fixing the QB drop back sack bug? Where they just keep backing up and taking huge sacks...how can they not address that! That’s the one thing that has ruined the game for me. Hopefully they just forgot to mention it, maybe wishful thinking...I’m sure if it was a MUT issue It would have been addressed...

On the Madden 21 Ratings website (https://www.ea.com/games/madden-nfl/...player-ratings) they have suddenly added and highlighted a HAIR rating, which gives Mahomes 100 and everyone else 0. So the obvious reason for this patch is to include some kind of ridiculous Head and Shoulders cross-promotion.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

Bold prediction - this patch is going to make people perceive the QB drop back thing as being even worse, because it improves defense (the zone coverage improvements). I feel like the drop back thing happens when the AI QB has no one to throw to, so this is going to result in more coverage of WR's, which will in turn make those same QB's hold the ball even more often. I do think the zone coverage fixes are necessary, I just think that this is going to be an unfortunate side effect of it.

            We'll see.

I don’t understand what is so hard about the QBs throwing it away like you see every Sunday when guys are covered Frustrating but predictable I think your likely right.

I also feel like it's a secondary effect of some particular slider, setting, or trait-editing approach.

Nearly everybody I've seen report it is somebody that often posts about frequent slider adjustments, often as they chase ever-increasing levels of stat accuracy (many times trying to get one specific stat "right"). Meanwhile, most people who aren't experiencing it play with sliders at or very close to default.

A patch that improves coverage will have the people who address everything that doesn't match their expectations with slider adjustments adjusting more, potentially making the issue worse.

For years we asked them to give us an actual pocket. They gave us one but part of that has meant the logic built keeps the QB in the pocket for the most part.

Would be nice to see a mix but I don't think they have logic in to have a QB move away from traffic out of the pocket in order to throw it away.

(Not really answering your question, just adding a thought)

I feel like that is what they were doing when the game first came out this year though.

And in reply to the coverage thought being too good. The coverage is better but why were they scrambling and running on plays that were covered when the game first came out?

From what I've seen the QB Statue is a factor of difficulty level, QBA and coverage sliders.
Higher QBA and All Madden you hardly see it. Default sliders any difficulty you hardly see it. Adjustments to tighten coverage can mess with the QB logic since he'll think nobody is open, lower QBA makes the QB dumb/slower to react so he'll just stand there.

I personally play with Matt's sliders and the recent version doesn't have statue QB, I've been seeing a lot of scrambling and pocket mobility, short shovel passes, throw away on the run, throw out of sack, and all that good stuff.

Hopefully the patch doesn't' upset the balance too much. Patrick does have the best hair btw.

For me, they still are. I play very close to default all pro and QBs who can scramble are still a huge threat to do so. I don't want non-scramblers to take off running - that's a huge fumble/injury risk with very little upside. I'd much rather they eat the ball (or more preferably, throw it away when grounding isn't a possibility) when heavily pressured. I've seen what people refer to as the dropback problem, but the frequency and the circumstances (the QB's who are doing it) aren't enough for to me consider it as a huge problem. Sacks in my games aren't excessively high, either.

Believe me, the mobility of scrambling QB's was my favorite thing about the gameplay this year at launch, and it still is. If it got broken by a patch, I'd be one of the ones yelling loudest about it.

I am not having that issue with my slider settings. I rarely see it. Sacks are very much in line with what I deem “realistic”.

I just hope 1.12 does not do something to adversely affect what I felt has been the best experience I have had playing vs the Cpu ever in Madden.

I will not DL it. I will do what I have been doing with each update and hold off for a little bit until I get the right feedback and an "all clear"

You're probably right. But it could help if the QB had logic to step up in the pocket instead of hopping back further. The entire AI avoidance system is messed up though. It's why you see CPU runners make really dumb cuts on runs. They'll go out of their way to avoid contact often losing yards in the process. On 3rd down how often have you seen a runner juke out of bounds rather than aggressively going for a first down.

Maybe a "give up" button for the QB to protect themselves for huge hits and it would give the CPU an option instead of dropping further and further back.
