Anyone else having trouble juking this year?

I can't juke to save my life this year. I'm either too early or too late, or it simply doesn't matter. I never make a defender miss, even using Kamara in my Saints CFM.

All-Pro, All-Madden, no-jukes. Been playing Madden/EA football for nearly 30 years and I've never had this much trouble.

Any new tips or something I'm missing?

Double Jukes is the way to go this year. Using regular nukes to get around blocks and double nukes to get around defenders.

This. Except I've had better luck double juking by using the left stick to change direction after the initial juke with the right stick. Double juking with just the right stick isn't effective at all for me. Earlier seems to be better as you have a better chance at breaking away cleanly rather than triggering a broken tackle animation.

To the OP, mastering the left stick is key to running this year. In previous years you could just jam it in any direction and change direction as needed. This year though you have to much more fine with your movements. And your special moves need to be setup correctly to work. Once you can master steering your back around with the left stick, juking will become much easier. You have to setup defenders to use their momentum against them, not like in previous years when you could just sprint straight at someone and then juke them out of their shoes. Took me a bit of time in practice mode to really get a feel for the movement mechanics this year, but once you get the hang of it things start to feel much more fluid.

I’m sure I’m doing it wrong because I been having a hard time juking or breaking tackles this game myself. Very hard to do so lol

Yeah those minigames that used to be in the game would be perfect to practice running one on one in.

Remember that Doug Martin pre-release Gameplay Clip that showcased an actual plant-n-juke?

Got patched out in favor of the 3-yrd jump cut.

Today’s the #1 juke celebrated as Stick Skills in H2H gameplay clips is the 0-100 stop-n-go juke.

The weight of the tackle animation triggering overrides most juking attempts unless you drastically reduce the Tackle Slider, which may lead to other gameplay issues in doing so. 🤷🏾*♂️

As someone else said. Using the left stick to change direction in addition to releasing and pressing the sprint button are the way to go. The right sick juke moves this year are too flashy for me. Feels like I lose momentum

I'd suggest going into practice mode without the defense just to see what kind of moves your players can pull off. With the abilities and ratings of Kamara you should unlock faster juke moves

Great thread....im having the same trouble...still....I go into practice and the juke to me is not as effective as years past. But like someone said...its prob the adjustments they made to momentum. I have more sucess with the back juke. I understand you have to set it up but how many times do u see a player IRL catch a pass....turn around and pull off the dirtiest juke one on one. IMO I don't think every ball carrier should be able to juke effectively like Sanders but the animation for ball carrier and tackler should play out like it should. BTW...CMC has the most effective juke as a RB. Just one juke to the one side fakes them out every time. Zeke can barely fake them on AP.

I've been having problems too, but I feel like I had a breakthrough in my last game. I made a few successful jukes with average backs. The key for me was starting the juke when the defender was about 4 yards away.

It's not intuitive, but with the way that all the systems work together in this game, it seems to be the most effective way to have some success juking in the open field.

One thing that has definitely changed my success rate is letting off of the turbo right as I make a move. For some reason, juking with sprint held doesn’t work much at all.

Yeah I've had to adjust and do them much earlier than in previous versions, I liked it the old way much better.

This post is on point, everything is the run game is predicated on feathering the left stick. The blocking is designed around it, my running has been okay, but my left stick has been too heavy handed.

In the last game I was light on the stick all game and some 0-1 yard gains became 3 or 4 yards gains and the cutback lanes finally opened up for me because I was patience and read the flow of the plays so much better.

Jfsolo....to ur point about being patent and waiting for lanes to open. You have seen a stretch play turn into a nice HB dive play for mad yardage..... the LB read the OL stretch play block assignments and flow towards the edge, leaving the gut wide open. However the SS is not fooled as much and will step up to the A gap for run support. Thats when I need the single flick.of the juke to work...bud sadly it doesn't.

For me, it appears as though using juke moves does nothing other than trigger the tackle animation. And if I do the juke move too soon, the tackler just stands there, waits for me to finish, then the tackle animation kicks in.

The radius of the Tackle Animation is 3 Madden yrds, unfortunately unless you playing PC version, this can’t be reduced to truly open up ball carrier moves.

Tackle ratings are high across the board, so I’ve reduced the Tackle Slider to 12 (or .12 as noted in PC Slider Settings folder).
                              - this works for my gameplay experience
