Game: MVP 2005
Roster: Updated Minors
Sliders: Pared's All-Star Set
Prologue: I'm going back to my roots with this one. Growing up, the MVP series was the game that propelled my love for baseball and playing it now just brings me back to my childhood where I would first really learn about and start rooting for my hometown hero Yankees.
This team was legendary, especially living in the middle of it all. Every kid I knew was practicing on the field trying to emulate Jeter, Posada, or Mo. Of course, I was no different.
I'm excited to turn back the clock and relive some extremely memorable times with the game and the team that really got me started.
At the time, New York was restructuring their roster after losing a heartbreaking series to the Boston Red Sox, dropping a 3-0 lead to which led the Yankees' biggest rival to their first championship ring in 87 years - breaking the curse. Throughout the offseason, Boston and New York were in a heated competition to land the hottest free agents on the market. This prompted two major signings of Randy Johnson and Carl Pavano to boost the Bronx Bombers' rotation.
As of this game, the Yankees last won a World Series in 2000 over the Mets –*and only one since MVP 05 was released, in 2009. It's almost unfathomable looking back at how this team didn't win more... and that's where we enter now. This team is in the midst of a possible dynasty-in-the-making, and I'm aiming to bring multiple World Series wins to this team over the course of this dynasty.
It's baseball, so it's a grueling season. Can't promise that I'll never sim, but I want this to be fun and hopefully last awhile. Going to try updating with a good mix of graphics and articles with a little bit of a retro feel to it.
Thanks for checking in and I hope you enjoy!
