The good old days of offline only

Remember the days when you only played video games offline, you just bought the game and played it and there was no updates to games.
Now games are so advanced and complex to make there are always bugs that have to be fixed.
With UFC games just think for a minute about if there was never online gaming and all you ever played was offline you would never miss it. The time wasted in trying to get near faultless gameplay is near impossible with the lag players have around the world with different internet speeds which never makes for an even playing field. Thank you EA for at least making offline in UFC 4 great against the CPU and not having to worry about all the problems online gamers have.

The metrics show that most players play offline and that makes me a bit upset we dont have more fleshed out modes. I want title defense and ultimate fights mode god dammit

Especially when the “reasoning” behind not having major mechanics of a sports game like:
      Flash KO’s
      Real TKO’s
      Dr Stoppages
      Parries
      Freak Injuries

      We could surely go on...

Are due to reasons surrounding online play. It’s borderline maddening. To the point where I question if Online should be a separate game entirely.

I've started playing games like UFC and PES 20 only against the CPU and the difference is night and day. they actually become enjoyable and the work put into the ai starts to shine through

Online is (obviously) so focused on winning that you rarely see a game played how it is meant to be

I've been playing only Vs cpu on some changes settings - real time, no stamina recovery, lower stamina drain, higher damage, higher transition speed, max sub speed, lowered all outputs of strikes and takedowns - and I'm getting some really enjoyable matches out of it. Unrecognisable from online

This is what baffles me the most. In terms of offline modes and general immersion this game has to be the most barebones crap ever released by a triple A studio.

A dev did explain recently that most of the dev time (or a significant portion of it) went into career, which is offline. I guess there's a lot of cooperation and communication necessary between different teams, and I realise it's not easy to coordinate this.

I must say that offline in this game is at least 'fine'. There seem to be little bugs, even upon release, with the animations. And the AI functions properly.

Any complaints I had were just lack of player agency, design choices and extra customization options. But I guess they chose to cater to casuals who don't customize much and, for some reason, like watching a cell phone screen on a TV... I get that you can't customize real fighters' appearance, but the gear should be optional.
