Re: NHL 20 or 21
It depends. I as an Franchise mode only Player with my massive Roster of nearly 300 self created Players stay with 20 cause they haven’t implemented Roster transfer from 20 or a share function. The Trade deadline clock isn’t worth to buy it for me. They also added only 10 new Player likenesses. That few never was before cause usually 30-35. This means when I deduct the retired Players I have lesser face scans in NHL 21 than in NHL 20. For many maybe not important but for me it is. What I saw in the Trial is that the Gameplay is not that massive better as in 20. Also the same boring old cutscenes and also this since years same Goalie masks. -

Easy decision. NHL 21. The gameplay is much better than 20.

If you not demanding to have a deep Roster and you don’t want to spend some weeks many hours of your time to create and edit Players in Franchise mode than you are maybe right. If it has for you the worth it is ok, for me it has by far not.Easy decision. NHL 21. The gameplay is much better than 20.

Re: NHL 20 or 21
What I have seen in the Trial it is not. You can only edit Players before starting a new Franchise, but not during you play the Dynasty mode. The same as in NHL 20. I as a Freak would also like to edit the EA Player faces from EA generic Player cause they are looking many times far from real, but unfortunately they let it not too.Last edited by Travolterjohn; 11-03-2020, 12:58 AM.Comment

Gameplay wise, it's not even close. Makes you realize how bad 20 was.Join the EVHL!

Re: NHL 20 or 21
Dammit. I spent an inordinate amount of time creating players to complete a full alumni league with no dupes in NHL 20. Was planning to play it the rest of my life lol. But now...maybe I'll find a friend who bought it and try it out first, before I throw away all those hours...Comment

If you spent a ton of time in 20, and genuinely like it, I'd say don't upgrade. I mean, you spent many many hours that you won't get back, and if that's cool and immersive for you (I make a ton of teams, I get it) don't let FOMO get you. Is 21 better with the AI upgrades, absolutely. But ignorance can be bliss at times and if the 20 offline experience you've created is awesome for you, maybe just stay ignorant and enjoy your game. Play it for another year and go in for 22!Dammit. I spent an inordinate amount of time creating players to complete a full alumni league with no dupes in NHL 20. TL;DR: If you play 21, you're going to have a hard time going back due to the small but noticeable AI improvements. Might be best to stay ignorant if you are loving your 20 experience haha!Join the EVHL!

Re: NHL 20 or 21
Do you really think that NHL 22 will have massive changes ? They have not to do much, cause the most Customer’s buy the Game every year. For most Gamers it doesn’t matter what they do and for what they work, they buy it. Hope that another Company starts soon to produce a Hockey Game. Than EA need to do much more as they usually do every year.If you spent a ton of time in 20, and genuinely like it, I'd say don't upgrade. Re: NHL 20 or 21
I understand why people do all of this creating and editing players things to get it to be like “real life” but thats the thing.. it isn’t.. It’s a fantasy franchise. Once you start it then whatever happens happens.

Re: NHL 20 or 21
Can somebody explain what makes NHL 21 so much greater as far as on-ice product, I'm seeing mentions of better AI.
I played the trial and I still saw the same BS. Cross crease galore, superstar AI has 70 OVR players playing like 96 OVR players doing behind the back, no look, bullet pass one-timers. Teammate AI is also still dumb.
I'd love to hear specifics on why the AI is better.Comment

Re: NHL 20 or 21
When I create missing Players and start a Franchise it begins from now and continues in a fantasy future. The same as in NHL reality. It starts from the basic. For sure that Arcade Player with less knowledge about Players need it not. But when it’s only Fantasy, why not to rename the Game ;-)Comment

Has nothing to do with “arcade and knowledge” I like having real nhl rosters to start but I love drafting a fictional player(s) and watching them develop. Even in Madden I never download draft classes.

True enough. I was also thinking that I'd just wait for the next gen (maybe second iteration) anway. If you spent a ton of time in 20, and genuinely like it, I'd say don't upgrade.
