So what does it mean for us ? They bought the exclusive rights for all Player likenesses to use in HUT ?

Won't buy another version until there is roster sharing.

No competition = same game every year with minor upgrades. Not looking good for hockey game fans.

That next gen game better come with significant upgrades when it arrives...

I mean, the series has been called NHL (insert year) for every year running since (ironically) '94. The year before that wasn't NHL licensed but everything after it was.

I don't know if it's an exclusive license for NHL hockey or not (or if it just lacks competition like MLB The Show), but if it is that probably started in 2010-11, the last year of the NHL2K series.

How many copies does this game even sell?  Do many people even care about this series? Just an honest question.

The EA NHL Community Manager in Twitter said that it isn’t exclusive. That’s good cause another Company like 2K can use it too. Yes the selling Charts would be intressting to know. Every year they losses Customer as I have read somewhere. About Micro Transaction heard that it doubled their profit.

Fake news EA does not have the exclusive rights for the NHL. The fact is games like NHL 2K10, Gretzky NHL 06 and NHL Rivals 2004 did not sell well and were worse then EA's product that's way they stopped being made. This is not an NFL 2K/MVP Baseball situation!

NHL 2K was FAR better than the NHL series

No Fake news. I posted this before it was clear. If you scroll down on the first page you see another post from me where I said that the Community Manager said it’s not an exclusive Deal. If you would read it carefully you would also see that I wrote it with a question mark at the end ;-)

Revisionist history at it's finest. Visual Concepts did such a poor job with 2K9/2K10 that the sales were so poor and the series got shelved on Xbox/PS!

A few versions it was but not all. NHL 21 by the way is a darn fine game and getting lots of praise here

I guess you should differ about the Gameplay and the Rest of the Game.

I think the most important thing is that both companies tried to innovate when there was competition. See NHL 03-->NHL 04 and NHL 06-->NHL 07. And those games were all just a few years apart. Is there even much of a difference between NHL 08 (when 2k started falling off) and NHL 21?
