    Playin defense on all madden

I would say I am an average madden player. All pro has become a bit to easy so I switched to all madden using mike Lowe’s sliders. I need help playing defense! I cannot stop anybody in the passing game. Play as the vikes which might be part of the problem but shouldn’t be this bad. Pleas help!

I either control One of the safeties either for man or zone.

I control a DT or DE, because I screw up usering a coverage defender!

Are you playing CFM? I play mainly cover 3, and find you can play an effective cover three "bend, don't break" scheme. Key defenders are the wide zones in the 4 underneath - usually your SS and ROLB or slot CB. These guys must have good ZCV ratings. You might give up 80% completion, but it will be 5 yards per attempt. Once you get an offensive mistake, or negative play, or penalty, you get the stop.

You have to make pre-snap adjustments. I call a ton of Robber coverage and bring up the safety even closer to the LOS by making him a QB Spy. That helps stop slants and quick hitters over the middle.

I call press coverage and shade over the top. I've learned that you cannot have your DBs far off the LOS, they don't react quickly enough to stop slants.

I'm an 85/15 man/zone split. Even with the new coaching adjustments I find that zones drop way too deep.

All madden is a bit more challenging this year in the way that you have to do a little more when doing pre play adjustments and the coaching adjustments. Plus I believe ratings play a big factor to, if you’re using a team that doesn’t have a good secondary you might find it hard to play pass defense, especially if you don’t get any qb pressure.

Besides fixing your sliders I would suggest trying the coaching adjustments, I feel the “swat ball” plays better coverage than “play ball”, I wouldn’t mess with the zone adjustments being it seems whatever you call the cpu will hit you for the opposite.

Set up your audibles for every defensive front you want to call. I like to have a base zone coverage, a base man coverage, a trips check, and a freebie (typically a blitz).

Learn how the match coverages work - in particular, Cover 4 Quarters / Cover 4 Palms / Cover 6 / Cover 9 / Cover 3 Match / Cover 3 Buzz Match / Cover 2 Sink. Learn how they work against different formations. Get comfortable playing the assignment of at least one player in each coverage. Learn which players you can safely freelance with depending on the play call and offensive formation. (Unfortunately) learn the bugs in those coverages you have to cover up with user play and hot routes. Unfortunately there aren't any good tools in the game for teaching match coverage, so head to YouTube for a jump-off point on this.

Learn how to call and why you might call overtop / underneath when playing man coverage.

If you're playing against a CPU-controlled running QB, make sure you account for the QB run threat on every single play.

I've always found Madden ridiculous with difficulty. Your choice is either win by 2 TDs every game on All-Pro or lose by 2 TDs every game on All-Madden. I'm tired of it.

Sliders do help. All madden can be tuned pretty well this year compared to years past.

My results on AM. Yr 1. 10-5-1 WON SB, yr 2 7-8-1. Yr 3 at 5-2. Team/player ratings matter more this year than in years past on AM. Despite the short comings of cfm in madden 21 ive had a better experience overall because of the gameplay.
