Graphics are a nice upgrade. Gameplay is smooth. Lack of quick resume support on the Series X is a real black eye.

This game is nothing like old gen. If being built from the ground up means that this game is different in almost every important “basketball” area then i agree.

Shot contest is different. Shooting is different. On ball defense is different. Finishing in the paint and around the rim is different. Ball handling and blow byes are different.

Great job. Don’t mess it up with a huge patch

          Re: NBA 2K21 - Next-Gen Impressions

OK, I did not get the current gen version so my impressions aren't referencing anything form that game. I turned the aiming off so I can't tell you anything about that either. My biggest take away after a couple of games and messing around in freestyle is control. I feel so much more in control of what I do on the court, be it shooting, dribbling, etc. You can really cut dudes up with slick handles. And the bodying up, it seems harder to get past a defender and more realistic in the way the lean on you as you turn a corner to the rack. Players feel the closest to real players than I have ever felt. I hear someone say every year how "players feel like they have weight." This is definitely the most I have felt like that. I made the mistake of changing the visuals to 1080p without knowing it and the game looked great. I changed to 4k and geezus, the fidelity was awesome. The court, reflections, lighting.... Damn. Like always, some players are spot on and others need work. I'm most disappointed in the classic teams as it looks like they've just been ported over from previous gen. Few players that I saw from the past have been updated. The game has a smoothness that I like and it feels just different enough for me to be excited about it. I'm sure guys will pick it apart but for this old casual gamer, I can rock with this. More later...

That was my first thought after playing a game while it installed! This game has some familiarities, but if definitely a different game. Period.

I am so so so relieved to hear people are liking next gen because watching a few games on YouTube it was discouraging how underwhelming it was. I was so looking forward to it and hearing most people in here being happy with it so far is so awesome!

Hope I feel the same way with the PS5 version on Thursday

I did an online MyNBA with a friend on a fantasy draft and they managed to put all the options into a really easy to see condensed screen to review everything. Big W in that mode, if you want to only add conversations or whatever specific MyGM function you can individually, instead of all or nothing.

The Mybuilder is awesome in a bunch of ways, and punishing in others if you get greedy. For the first time in maybe ever, there will be some diversity on the Park with builds. The builds with the same names can be completely different, instead of 1-2 Metas that dominate every game.

Only thing I’m disappointed in so far is having to play online just to be able to get accessories for MyCareer. It irritated me a little when they hid specific animations behind rep starting with 2K20 but it’s a little ridiculous that The City is inaccessible straight away and you have to go through multiple games in “Rookieville” just to access, knowing full well what the 2K community is like having to play with dudes who just don’t pass the ball and don’t know how to win games.

One of my gripes from last gen was the lack of transition defense, not anymore this game is fire!!!! Some audio glitches for example Female reporter had D. A's voice. I know that will be ironed out I'm not worried about that..

The CPU runs their offense and the star player plays their role very nicely done 2K!! Honestly as of right now I don't want a patch the game is playing smoothly. I started out playing on all star default...

                            Fully agree with you.

Once people get their hands on the game they'll immediately see the difference.

I'm hoping the next gen experience includes not having to worry about a patch changing the core of the game. Whether it be purposely or inadvertent.

About to venture into H2H...we'll see how these changes stack up when they're stressed to the max by cheesers, lol

Played a few games. This kinda craps on current generation. The movement, dribbling, defense, rebounding. Its smoothhhhhhh. Crowd reacts better. Its 2k but definitely a different game. Can't stand all the post in other threads of people saying its the same game without playing it. If yall see this boy was yall wrong. The loading brings a tear to my eye.

Now we just need microsoft to fix quick resume for 2k.
