New Madden 21 Next Gen article
This one goes at least a little bit bit deeper than the marketing speak we’ve been force fed so far.

Re: New Madden 21 Next Gen article
I'm excited for sure, now if I could just find an Xbox Series X.
This part stood out to me as one thing that I notice a lot is my RB getting sucked into a tackle through the line.
It will be tough reading the OS forum thread for those with an XSX or PS5 and discussing next gen Madden. So, I got to get this player into position to make a tackle. And that’s where we built this new tech that helps us predict, start a tackle before it’s even in contact and then if things change, things change and we break it, we don’t even launch the tackle. But if all things stay the same and two players are meeting in this path, we can ensure that we can start a tackle on a defender without ever pulling the ball carry in so it doesn’t feel suction-y. And then it also makes it more consistent for a defensive player to make a tackle or get in position to make a tackle.Last edited by MizzouRah; 11-20-2020, 07:02 PM.Comment

Re: New Madden 21 Next Gen article
Everything sounds like what I want in a football game but I'm going to temper my expectations because this is Tiburon and their idea of simulation football hasn't aligned with what I believe represents the true nature of simulation football. I am a little worried that they keep leading off with WR route running as that looks like it got the biggest focus for player movement. I'm curious why they didn't use the next gen stats for the defensive side of the ball.Comment

Re: New Madden 21 Next Gen article
The article is written like the RG3 trailer from the xbox one trailer or even the next generation trailer for the current systems. But it doesn't match anything we've seen so far. Ea is just too hard to trust until you actually get your hand on the game. Always seems like they market a different product than that is sold.Comment

Re: New Madden 21 Next Gen article
It's almost as if the Madden Devs are allergic to or actively trying not to say the word "physics" when talking about tackling or O-line interactions... Just puzzling and beyond frustrating.Comment

Re: New Madden 21 Next Gen article
Well - they have probably been coached on it intentionally. One of the main complaints they hear is the lack of a true physics based engine - and I think they are stuck with what they have (in terms of if being animation based) because of decisions up top.
I'm not defending them...but if I were them I'd go all out to try and validate what we were doing to try and make it the best we can without physics.Comment

Re: New Madden 21 Next Gen article
It's interesting that a random Uproxx article is where we get by far the deepest look at the new Madden. Connor Dougan was over here hiding in plain sight secretly working on this game for the last couple of years. Two weeks to go.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: New Madden 21 Next Gen article
I’ll definitely temper my expectations, but this sounds like the pace of play is going to be closer to All Pro Football 2K8. Which would be a huge step in the right direction.

I thought I read somewhere that they are using Next Gen stats for Defensive players too

"Thousand of animations" where have I heard this before?.... "A souped up PC" made it all happen. Yet not releasing on PC - clunk.Last edited by Darth Aegis; 11-20-2020, 09:29 PM.OS needs a Thumbs DOWN button

Re: New Madden 21 Next Gen article
People need to get over the physics thing. Their gameplay engine works on mostly animations. It is what it is. Real time physics aren't happening. They don't happen in any sports game. Some elements of physics might be used sparingly in sports games, but if you just keep waiting for EA to talk about physics, you're gonna be waiting a while.
The new movement system sounds promising. How about we wait and play it before we start going on about physics.
EDIT: I kinda came off as a dick, and I don't mean to be. It's just that the people who are waiting every year for the game to use a real time physics engine are gonna be disappointed every year. It's just not the direction they are going with.Last edited by PVarck31; 11-20-2020, 09:35 PM.Comment

Re: New Madden 21 Next Gen article
It sounds good. But I'm surprised no mention of the trenches. That's where a lot of failings start when it comes to Madden.
