Meh so that's what they meant by off ball humanization. Random passive animations not related to gameplay. I was hoping for AI defenders not being total zombies or keepers not falling like dead weight and missing easy saves.

Controller feedback is cool. Don't know how much of a game changer it will but could be interesting.

Lighting and atmosphere are whatever as that should be expected.

Everything is animations based with EA and that's half the battle when playing their sports titles. They need to work in actual ball and collision physics rather than only having everything animations based.

I'm still set on no game of FIFA will ever touch my PS5 without some high praise from people I trust.

So based on this, it really is the same game with slight upgrades in graphics.

I did. What jumped out to you as a different game? It's taking advantage of the PS5 controller, graphics, and load times.

For starters - New movement, new camera angle, controller haptics... It's not NBA2K revolutionary but it's a free upgrade for a game that came out a little over a month ago so that should set expectations.

About what I expected considering it's a free upgrade. No mention of player models/body types... I thought that was in the early info. Or was that a Madden-only thing since that info was kind of lumped together?

Still hoping the biggest upgrade of tuning gameplay to improve def awareness and cpu shooting/crossing behavior might come in an update once they have the next gen launch off their plate.

These trailers and words on paper don't mean sh*t coming from EA. They been doing this for years if not decades: their marketing department is pretty good in writing and summing up new stuff, but like Madden, dont tell us, show us. If it is all as good as they ought it to be then why not just release actual gameplay video's showing us the differences.

Take a note from SSD and 2k, EA: show us what you got.

Not a fan of these free upgrades. It gives these companies an excuse to use what they have from past gen and build on it. Tbh, I was hoping for a completey new experience with a game built from the ground up. This is what you hope for when the next generation of consoles arrives. I will have to see the game in action before I can judge and decide on a future purchase.

There's eFootball PES next year to look forward to I guess.  The only sports game to take the right approach and take a year off for next-gen to truly rebuild it.  2K did a halfway approach, which I appreciate - with expanding the feature set, it is left open for them to spend the next dev cycle rebuilding the physics and motion engine from scratch (and perhaps yielding more graphical fidelity from the consoles).  EA of course, the tamest, lamest, half-hearted, half-assed, last place approach in giving us the same core game based on a flawed engine and design approach from more than a console generation ago.  This gen will be more of the same, unfortunately.  As someone mentioned above, EA's marketing team is the most talented division in that whole company.  The NFL is really the one with the power to do anything about it, but the bottom line is being more than satisfied, so there will be no NFL equivalent to what we're seeing with NBA 2K, and what we might expect to see from PES and MLB The Show.

Faster load times are great, although I expected nothing less. The rest is just fluff. "Individual hair strand response" seriously ! I usually button mash through intros, cut scenes and celebrations anyway. I'll wait for a "new game" in '22.

3 days from release and no gameplay from either FIFA or Madden next gen. Something aint right. NBA 2K couldn't stop promoting their game, but EA seems to be hiding theirs.

Agreed. Insane that we haven’t seen anything substantive.
