Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room
If he was, he would have. Unloading Dak Dak accelerates the rebuildRomo was definitely good enough to win a ring. Hell, we probably would've if either Demarco doesn't fumble or the refs rightfully call that Dez catch.
I'm just not in the business of getting rid of a franchise QB because we have to pay him.
Dak, by every measure, is an elite QB. I can name on one hand, with a finger or two to spare, the guys I would take ahead of him right now for the next 5-7 years.
Fix the OL depth. Fix the back 7 on D. I make it sound easy but I know it'll take some time.
I like Diggs. Chido is ok. We just need to keep developing these guys.
I'm not nearly as bullish on Dak as you. I'd listen to arguments for way more than 5 guys for the next decade, including both Fields and Lawrence. This article lays it out way better than I will

Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room
I think Romo was good enough to win a Ring.
The Dez catch should have been a catch. But there were 4:00 left, even if that call went the right way. Do you really trust you're stopping Aaron Rodgers? All he needed was a FG.
Then it would have been the defending Champs IN Seattle.. and the reward for winning that game was the right to play Tom Brady.
Thats a brutal road to a Title.Last edited by Madden08PCgmr; 11-23-2020, 08:00 PM.You want free speech?

Embarrassing.
1st and Goal on the 3 and you can't get a SINGLE YARD?!?
Why is 88 in the backfield on 3rd and long?
Why in God's earth are you running a fake punt INSIDE YOUR BLEEPING 30 when you're losing?Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room
Nick Eatman said it best:
"The coaches are there to get the team prepared and ready
to play, and then to put them in a position to go win the game.
The players obviously have to execute.
In this case, though, it looked like the coaches didn't give them a
chance to do that. You just don't make that call right then, with
everything else that we've seen to that point."
Bucky Brooks
The coaching staff dropped the ball.
The No.1 job of the coaching staff is to put together a game plan that
reduces the odds of losing the game. Mike McCarthy and his assistant
failed miserably in this area against the Washington Football Team
with a series of poor play calls and ill-timed gambles that gift-wrapped
a victory to their division rival. From a questionable passing play on a
fourth-and-inches situation to an ill-fated reverse pass option play by
CeeDee Lamb in the tight red area to a ridiculous fake punt attempt
in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys made a series of reckless decisions
that undermined the team's chances to take the division lead. Although
it is easy to second-guess the coaching decisions after witnessing the
poor results, the ultra-aggressive approach against a team with a
punchless offense will go down as one of the worst game plans in team
history
Fourth and 1 from your own 34 yard line in a close game, you punt.
Basically that was a turnover. Gifting a TD
Fourth and 10 from your own 24 a fake punt. Basically a turnover.
Gifting another TD.
Even a good defense is going to give up points. The best Defense in
the NFL is going to give up 6 points in those situations. Most
defenses are going to give up a TD or 2 TD's.
McCarthy can say analytics this and analytics that. He has no Football
IQ.
No Doubt in my mind. If we had a Ron Rivera type coach we win
this game. McCarthy doesn't have it. All his wins in Green Bay were
a product of having a Generational QB.
Jerry isn't going to fire Mike. But he should. So frustrating.Comment

Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room
The play calling was brutal in this one. Get used to it though. I had numerous Green Bay fans telling me this is the kind of play calling we would get from MM. According to Jerry MM isn’t going anywhere either.

Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room
That's revisionist history. He was nowhere near this reckless in Green Bay.
Jerry needs to hear it from all sides now. I've seen enough with MM to show him the door. Will Jerry be man enough to eat his mistake and hire a proven or high upside commodity?Comment

Colts apparently putting word out that Matt Eberflus is the guy they want. If Jerry was to move on from MM, Eberflus would be my preference to replace him.

Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room
I thought about this recently but I am completely opposed to any defensive scheme based on Tampa 2 as a base without a Brian Urlacher in today's NFL. I don't give a crap what he's doing in Indy. His scheme gets torched by the top offensive coaches every time they match up because the book is out on that system.
That's a return to Rod Marinelli. Unless he can guarentee top notch special teams and the same high quality offense, no thanks.
And his former Dallas connection is not attractive either. Fresh blood and new perspective is required. I don't want a coach who will feel any loyalty to his new team until they've earned it. Play the best guys in the best ways without any preconceived notions.
I'm going outside the box for the next hire. Retreads suck. I'd target 3 college guys: Riley, Urban Meyer (both are pipe dreams), or Matt Campbell. As for NFL guys, Eberflus will get considered (even though I'm 100% opposed), Bienemy, Arthur Smith (Titans OC) and maybe a guy like Mike Zimmer were he to get axed would appeal much more to meComment

Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room
Urban is the closest thing we could hire to Jimmy Johnson. I'm obviously biased and heard that the Texas job is going to be offered to him soon.
Riley would require a NFL ready DC a la Kingsbury. He would absolutely work in the NFL IMO. If he wanted to, that isComment

Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room
Like Matt Patricia? Now that would be something I’d definitely be interested in.
I was really hoping that Urban Meyer would have been given the job before they hired MM. He openly wanted the job and has a track record for building successful programs. Texas should be doing everything they can to hire Meyer.

Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room
Meyer strikes me as another Nick Saban. He might flirt with the NFL, but if he really wanted to be there, he would have made the move already.
.. I can't see Jerrah running McCarthy off yet. Not unless this turns into Chernobyl.
I think he'll let Mac nuke the staff and give him a legit shot to run things with all of his own people. As he should have done in the first place.
Can't believe this has hit critical mass this soon though. I thought he'd have another disastrous Playoff loss or two before people would be calling for his job.Last edited by Madden08PCgmr; 11-30-2020, 11:23 PM.You want free speech?

Meyer openly campaigned for the Cowboys HC job. He wanted it. Jerry chose MM though. One of the local sports radio shows said last week that Jerry was sold on MM early and didn’t consider anyone else. If he didn’t get MM he was going to bring back Jason Garrett.
