Coverage A.I Next Gen
So I just picked up Madden for the series X. I noticed last night in man or zone my corners are getting torched on go routes... The receivers are just running right past them. Has anyone noticed this? Sorry if this has been posted before.

Yeah the devs acknowledged it but said it wont be fixed until after Christmas -

Honestly if they could fix the coverage this would be a solid playing game. I'm enjoying the new player movement.Comment

Re: Coverage A.I Next Gen
The game is unplayable for me, at least on defense until it's (if) fixed. Sliders cannot fix the coverage issues unfortunately.
I was actually thinking about going back to Madden 20 to get my football fix, at least until we see what they do in the next patch for NG.Comment

Re: Coverage A.I Next Gen
As a Raider fan I can te you this is real....VERY REAL!
Watch this video....seems like the raiders called a Cover 3 safety came down and the corner has the deep third.... If this were to happen in Madden we would be pissed... Se it's really real lol!!!!

Re: Coverage A.I Next Gen
I have CPU pass blocking down to 1, CPU QB at 40, CPU WR at 45, with Human Reaction and Coverage at 80, and generally speaking the only times I’m getting torched is when someone like Murray runs around and buys time before throwing deep, or a great WR wins a catch battle against my mediocre corners.
With this setting and my roster I’m not terribly upset.
However, I have gotten a BUNCH of roughing the passer penalties because I get close so often. Probably ought to drop that a bit, or stop pressing dive at the QB.https://forums.operationsports.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2049813056Originally posted by Therebelyell626I am going to create a team called "the happy town fundament rapscallions" and hurt your already diminishing image

Re: Coverage A.I Next Gen
Smh it AIN’T real because on default sliders the frequency would result in teams scoring 50 points a game. Plays like in your video are made only once per game usually. Corners are certainly beaten deep a few times per game, but pressure or a bad throw usually save them. In Madden it’s at least once every three or four drives, and the percentage of wins is well over 50%, when in real life deep completion percentage tends to be 30 or less.As a Raider fan I can te you this is real....VERY REAL!

Edit - the various “deep ball” completion percentage websites define it as beyond 20 yards. These are deeper than that, and the completion percentage is lower than the standard “deep ball” criteria.Last edited by ForUntoOblivionSoar∞; 12-23-2020, 09:17 PM.https://forums.operationsports.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2049813056Originally posted by Therebelyell626I am going to create a team called "the happy town fundament rapscallions" and hurt your already diminishing image

Re: Coverage A.I Next Gen
Zone is so broken in this game, even if you set your middle read hook zone to 10 yards they won’t cover a 9 yard route right in front of themComment

Re: Coverage A.I Next Gen
Again as a Raider fan I can GUARANTEE you that that happens way more than once per game I play default all Madden and I think it's really good if you call man or if you call cover three and you have a bad corner you will get beat the way it should be. I don't change receivers on offense and when I play defense unless I have stud corners I don't press. Is there issues sure there is and they're always will be but it's nowhere near as bad as people are making it out to be I think people are used to old School Madden where you have unrealistic defense flying everywhere like the 85 bears this is much more realistic than last gen.Sent from my SM-N986U using Operation Sports mobile appSmh it AIN’T real because on default sliders the frequency would result in teams scoring 50 points a game. Re: Coverage A.I Next Gen
The game became playable for me after changing Min Speed Threshhold to 70 on NextGen - this makes the coverage issues tolerable for now. I actually had a 17-10 game on 15 min quarters after that change.ShaneTheMaster

Re: Coverage A.I Next Gen
All this does is shreds Player Differentiation/Animations.
This doesn’t just alter straight-line running, you’re manipulating animation triggering across the board (blocking, tackling, tackle-avoidance etc).
This is exacerbated in a Franchise because the setting is altered based off of what the Front End rated roster is producing.
When generated players and their lowered ratings are introduced... down the Slider rabbit hole you go because the gameplay will be different.
Outside of a handful of star defensive players, the common issues coverage defenders share across the board is 1) low AWR, 2) low ZCV ratings, 3) missing new coverage SS Man/Zone Abilities, 4) high Front End QB DAC ratings
1) AWR impacts how well the defender will play within whatever Zone responsibility the playcall puts them in
- just how OL use AWR for speed of acquiring their blocking targets, it also impacts how fast defenders can/will target players entering/exiting their Zone responsibility
**graph by MutLeaks is for OL, but I also apply it to defenders for Zone coverage, “90” AWR is bare min for any starting defender
2) ZCV rating controls “how fast” player will react/break on ball, and with the new Next-Gen Player Movement, “93” is the bare min until Clint adjust this ratings delays to fit the new movement.
**even a “99” applies a delay, so don’t be afraid to give CB/Coverage LB’s this which will greatly improve their reaction/knock-outs on Quick Slants & dreaded TE out route
3) SS Coverage Abilities
- will greatly enhance defenders coverage/knock-outs of coverage areas/aspects User sees as too easy
**for me mid-middle field and deep outside hash/numbers Zones
4) High QB DAC rating
- simply put, at Front End levels this is making deep passing easy for Users
- I edit all QB’s DAC to “65” & below based on graph
**this helps the AI defense by removing the ease on User passing from just pressing the button & pushing L-Stick up with no negative impact, this makes L-Stick direction placement matter dealing with ball trajectory landing path
The tricky issue for Next-Gen and any adjustments Clint does to coverage is...
1) not many have the new consoles, so adjustment feedback will be from a very small voice, esp as it relates to Franchise/Sim gamers.
2) tinkering with the movement system driven by Next-Gen Stats to manipulate coverage outcomes can easily/quickly spiral the entire movement system into a complete mess when it’s functioning as advertised.
For now, editing the above will provide more User controllable coverage changes vs the Speed Slider the User has no control over its overarching impacts.Attached Files- B9AF19EA-09C1-4179-84AC-F7A0E60A3CAF.png (9.6 KB, 74 views)

Re: Coverage A.I Next Gen
Deep blues could use some improvements in being aware of route concepts and cover assignments. But the zone logic is not why I have a hard time enjoying games against the cpu.
I love defense. Playing defense against the cpu is far from fun, beyond frustrating. The main issue
Is the lack of time, during normal game play, I have on defense to read the offense and make adjustments.
I quit most games before half time.Comment

Re: Coverage A.I Next Gen
I want corners to get beat... Just not non stop almost every drive when I'm sitting off coverage in a cover 3 shading over the top. The receiver just runs right by him. Same speed too.Again as a Raider fan I can GUARANTEE you that that happens way more than once per game I play default all Madden and I think it's really good if you call man or if you call cover three and you have a bad corner you will get beat the way it should be. Re: Coverage A.I Next Gen
As someone who just looked at all 14 box scores for the Raiders and counted how many touchdown passes over 30 yards they have allowed all season, I GUARANTEE you it’s only happened THREE TIMES ALL YEAR, for an average of 0.21 times per game.Again as a Raider fan I can GUARANTEE you that that happens way more than once per game I play default all Madden and I think it's really good if you call man or if you call cover three and you have a bad corner you will get beat the way it should be.
