Play Initiator Question
Is it possible to change who I do or don't want to be a play initiator during a game? If not, is there any other way for me to designate who I want to be my primary play initiator other than editing my rosters?Tags: None -
Re: Play Initiator Question
You need to edit the roster. It's a "Tag" that the AI looks for at the start of a possession.NBA 2K25 Roster: Real 2K Rosters - Modern Era

Re: Play Initiator Question
Thank you 🙏🏿. Can users who are part of a MyLeague Online edit this for their own players? Or would they have to ask the commissioner to do this for them?Comment

Re: Play Initiator Question
Can you go more into depth here? (this is concerning the question I just recently asked on my NBA reality roster thread---point guards shooting ALL THE TIME!!!)Comment

Re: Play Initiator Question
I was wondering this also. Might also be hardcoded in the game.
Only say that because I was editing attention to detail roster(in roster section) Draymond didnt have the play initiator on but he still brought the ball and started plays.
Might want to check out atd roster thread, might be answer in there.Comment

Re: Play Initiator Question
Czar likely has it programmed so that if Draymond is on the court, they will feature Curry off-ball. That is mostly how ACE works with the offensive AI - it is checking lineups to determine the gameplan, and then rolling a die.
I don't know for sure that this is the case of what's happening here, simply my own speculation.
The best way to test that would be:
A. See if Draymond is still doing it without Curry on the court.
B. Trade them to another team and test. I believe ACE is hard-coded to Teams, not Players.
It's also worth noting that Play Initiator pre-dates ACE (as well as all of Czar's playcall innovations from the last 5 years). It was a band-aid solution to a problem from 10 years ago, and it wouldn't surprise me if it's become increasingly redundant with a decades worth of gameplay coding (the game may simply be checking Handle/Pass ratings).Last edited by Real2KInsider; 01-06-2021, 12:14 AM.NBA 2K25 Roster: Real 2K Rosters - Modern Era

I've noticed that for some reason, Andre Drummond has been bringing the ball up court and running Pick and Rolls in the last couple AIvsAI games I've been testing for roster edits.
He has play initiator off, doesn't have PNR Handler as a play type, and was on the floor with three other play initiators (Alex Caruso, Talen Horton-Tucker and Kyle Kuzma).
If it's ACE taking over, I'm not sure what criteria is being used becuse I lowered Drummond's ball handle to 25 for testing purposes, and his passing ratings aren't anything special.Comment
