Next Gen 2k21 Xbox Series X Console Crashes

I am shocked that this is not being widely reported on. Is anyone else experiencing abrupt console crashes while playing 2k21 on next gen Xbox Series X? The problem also occurs on the S but is less prevalent. Is this a 2k issue or does it happen in other games as well? I primarily play in an online league and out of 30 members, nearly all have experienced a console crash at some point while playing league games, with some more than others. A search of microsoft, reddit, youtube, and twitter have acknowledged this issue. I dont see Oser's talking about this so I'm wondering if Osers have just been lucky to have non covid infected boxes as we are commonly reffering to it in our league. Either you have a covid free box or a covid infected box with the abrupt crash and shut offs. Or could this be isolated to online leagues? Is this happening to myplayer modes or playnow online? Please chime in.

Super annoying. I have only played about 15 offline games with no crashes. Yet.

Looks like those in the insider program will be getting the fix. This is the first time I've seen microsoft publicly even acknowledge this issue.

happens to me (or did) when playing mycareer and going to practice, it would go to dashboard just as you're walking in the facility

My league has had that same issue. Some of the guys even signed up for the insider program and it's still happening. It's weird because for most of the guy it only happens in MyNBA games. I have guys that play pro-am and MyTeam and it never happens soon as they come to the league it shuts off.

I know that it happens to me, but only on NBA 2K21 which is odd. However, I'm pretty sure it's a console problem. I got the lastest firmware for my Series X, and my console still resets everyone once in a blue moon. It's technically not a lot, but it happens when I'm playing PNO where I got a record on the line. I get more mad about giving people free wins than the actual console shutting down. If it wasn't for the quick resume feature, I would probably be ready to riot in the streets.

My son is having the same issue with his. He's had it for less than two weeks. Things were fine the first week, but during the past 3 days it has shut off 5 or 6 times in the middle of 2K or Rocket League games.

I contacted Xbox support through Twitter and they've been messaging back and forth with me with troubleshooting tips. One of the tips they suggested was plugging the system directly into a wall outlet, rather than a surge protector. They mentioned that the issue has been known to occur with surge protectors that were running several items at once. They also suggested clearing Alternate MAC Address, clearing local saved games (but syncing with the cloud beforehand to have saves registered on it), resetting the console, but saving games and apps, and completely deleting the games where the issue has occurred and reinstalling them.

My son is with his mom until the weekend so we haven't had a chance to see if any of these work yet though. I've done all but the clearing local saved games one and deleting and reinstalling games. I doubt any of these work but they're worth a shot. Hate to send the console back because its almost brand new and will be gone 3-4 weeks at least I'm guessing, and based on my past experiences with consoles I'm sure they will send one that is refurbished, which normally creates a whole new set of problems eventually.

Refurbished aren't always bad, but I worked at Big Lots for 4 years while in college and we sold a lot of refurbished appliances and electronics and the returns on those things were ridiculous so I'm always a little hesitant when I see "refurbished." LOL Also years ago I had one of the original white Xbox 360 consoles and I got the infamous red ring of death and sent it back. The replacement console I received had deep scratches all over it and lasted about a month before having the same issue. Things have probably advanced greatly and changed since then but I still worry, especially when you pay $500 + for these things.

It’s becoming ridiculous at this point. I have to say a quick prayer to make it through a Play Now game. Glad I got a warranty on my console because I will be taking it back for another one in a month or two. Not sure if this is a Microsoft problem or a 2K problem but the shutdowns keep happening for me and I am in the insider program with the new updates to keep it from happening. The fix DID NOT work.

I got a 2-year warranty through Best Buy, but I was planning to use mine further down the road. Depending on your mindset, I would recommend using it if your console really breaks down. This only happens to me while playing NBA 2K21, and I rarely play that game anyways. If all goes well, my console will conveniently break down when if they ever introduce newly designed models [emoji16].

Besides, whatever the problem is, it seems that it can possibly be fixed through a firmware update.
