Re: Is there a chance?
I remember poor sales being the issue but Basketball gaming is a lot more popular in 2021 than it was in 2008. Besides, in the era of microtransactions, it leaves room for a lot more possibilities. Imagine a 24/7 mode where you start as an HS Freshman to HS Senior and choose your college. They have yearly growth spurts like 2k8 as well.
To me, they just need to modernize the entire 2k8 game. Just modernize it. That's all you gotta do. Have three modes:
Open
Closed Legacy - Make the deepest legacy mode in all of sports. It's already deeper than NCAA so just make it deeper.
24/7 - Don't have a stupid storyline, just let us start when we want: HS Senior, JUCO, HS Freshman and play as that player while grinding out ish.
Man, this game could be a monster. I always felt it was undervalued because Basketball gaming wasn't close to as big as it is now.Comment

Re: Is there a chance?
Basketball is going to be harder than football from a licensing standpoint because there are so many more schools. Also, EA is doing this without NCAA licenses, which means there would be no March Madness branding.
Still, football setting the precedent is a great step.Comment

I think this is an excellent point. Basketball video games are WAY more popular than they ever have been and with 12 years (can’t believe that) since the last good college basketball game, I think people would sign up in drove for this product.I remember poor sales being the issue but Basketball gaming is a lot more popular in 2021 than it was in 2008. If they tie in the MyCareer from NBA 2k to a college hoops game... man.24/7 - Don't have a stupid storyline, just let us start when we want: HS Senior, JUCO, HS Freshman and play as that player while grinding out ish.

Re: Is there a chance?
Imagine if College Hoops 2k22 or 23 had all of the cities and towns like NCAA Football has.
You would create your MyPlayer. It would come from one of these states or even a country in Africa, Europe, Asia, South America, etc. Then he would come from a city. That city would have High Schools and you would enter the name of the high school. In that MyPlayer. You would enter the name of the local MyPlayer rival school. You would have a 2k newspaper and your goal is simply to become a college basketball prospect. You start at a 40 overall if you are a freshman in HS. 45 as a Soph, 50/Jr, 55/Sr, 60/JUCO/year one only. It's your choice to choose your story. You can even go straight to college as a walk-on as a 55 overall and choose any University of your liking.
2k, do this man! This would be so amazing. Creating a 6'3 201 SF Freshman develops into a 6'8, 250 NBA prospect going into NBA 2k23.
As a prospect, there are levels for the camps. At the camps, you can improve your standing if invited. The goal is to get invited and be a good enough high school player (*** star and above). It's not just enough to have a great overall rating, you got to perform well to get an invite. Since ABL is predetermined and automatically places you on the roster. Depending on how good you are overall will determine if you start, come off the bench, and barely play, etc.
Most of your teammates are small. Lineups are: 5'9, 5'11, 6', 6'1, and 6'3. basically the WNBA lineup height-wise. Most of the rosters you will play are predetermined and maybe 6-8 guys you will play in each season depending on your state will be college prospects that you can find at the ABL level. Since your roster is predetermined, you will rarely get another teammate who's ABL level. Maybe one, maybe two, just the luck of the draw if you have other college prospects on your squad.
Only players who are available with the ABL progress and have growth spurts and improve ratings via the rating system in a year. Because this is a 4-5 year process or even 1 year, the path to 99 is MUCH cheaper than NBA2k bbt since you will likely complete it much faster, there is a lot more potential ways to make money.
The advantage of getting to 99 in this game is when you are drafted into NBA 2k, you will automatically come in rated an 85 or around that range but it's a reward for your grind or willingness to spend for micro transgressions.
2k, all you gotta do is get with the CLC and do it.
Hey 2k, you could even do a women's MyPlayer with all of the women's teams as well as the men's.Last edited by King Ken; 02-02-2021, 10:28 PM.Comment

Re: Is there a chance?
The only reason I own a ps3 is for NCAA 14 and 2k8 hoops.
I'd say there is a chance for a basketball game now but it probably depends on whether the company thinks they can make a profit. I don't play either Madden or NBA games. I prefer the college games.≡Comment

Re: Is there a chance?
I'll just say their new Twitter account is @EASportsCollege so maybe there is a chance for other college games than just football?

Re: Is there a chance?
I thought the same thing actually. Obviously football is the cash cow but I think it would be silly for the EA or 2k to spend all of this time and money to only view licensing for one sport or certain schools. Maybe I’m being too optimistic, but I would be surprised if EA only focused on football or if they were the only company that looked into college gaming.http://pcfriars1213.blogspot.com/ - Coaching Career of Ed Cooley College Hoops 2k8Comment
