Dumb question but what is XP, is that what you accrue that allows you to buy extra budget?

      Great article Chase!

You did a great job of going over how the launch of the game has been through all game modes and going over the most important community concerns (at this point).

I've been using the PS5 version of the game and have really enjoyed the offline gameplay.

One issue I didn't see mentioned is that some parks during night games are almost too dark. This might have been a design choice by the developers and not a bug, but I'm not 100% sure. I do remember the same thing happened when the game first jumped to PS4 with MLB The Show 14 and it had to be patched....

I really hope they can add a search function for the Vault for Stadium Creator because it is beyond frustrating to find specific stadiums. It would be nice if they allowed you to add your teams logo somewhere in your created Stadium because at the moment, they seem very empty behind home plate or around the dugouts. Also, thank you for reiterating the Vault is located inside the Stadium Creator menu and, not the "Vaults" menu.

      Thanks again!

So, it sounds like PS4 offline franchise and RTTS folks like me don't have much upside to 21.  I was already off the bandwagon for a day 1 purchase.  Now I have to decide if it's even worth buying at half price.

Nice article. I agree with what you said about RTTS. I think the core of many people's issue with progression speed is the Archetype progression bug and that many of them don't even realize that A) It is broken and B) it is the main mechanic to upgrade your player.

Old man reporting for cloud-yelling duty, sir!

Seriously though, excellent article. You definitely have a knack for this, Chase.

Can you talk to SDS about the roster vault issue for us on next gen? If they don't fix that, gonna have a MASSIVE uproar on their hands.

No idea why we can't download and then load rosters on PS5.

Great article, Chase. Thank you for sharing some of our frustrations.

Hopefully this early issues are just that and after they've been addressed we can all enjoy the game a bit more.

Who the heck ever plays a single player campaign, and never once plays an alternate toon?

I was going to get either this, or MotoGP.   MotoGP only offered a single toon in Career last year, so at the very least, that's none the worse.  Congratulations, Milestone.

Pulling back longstanding features is something I'd expect from the likes of EA Sports.  That SDS is getting in on the fun now, is depressing as all get-out.

I thought this too. Rogers Centre with the roof closed (for example) is really dark

I added the roster download issues (it was actually already in my notes, but I wrote this after midnight so I was a bit loopy and left it out), and I'll note the darkness thing, but I don't see it personally and do think it somewhat ties into HDR stuff we've chatted about before -- at least for next gen.

Anyone else encounter this? I was playing a night game and the sky got progressively darker till it was black. Then when I paused the game to select a pinch hitter, when the game resumed with my pinch hitter ready to bat, the sky was bright again like it was at the 7pm starting time.

As someone who hasn't played the show in about 10 years it was pretty underwhelming on the SX.  Environment graphics were VERY impressive - but things like fielding animations and gameplay including running bases are not very good.  In fact the base running jogged my memory and feels exactly the same as my last outing.

There are weird names for everything - diamond dynasty??? and as a new player I don't know how to get to the modes I want quickly.  Speaking of modes, I just assumed there would be legend or classic teams - but there aren't? I searched and found Joe Carter with a 'beasts' jersey on and used his stance for my RTTS guy - but I guess there are no classic teams - looked at past players looking for batting stances and saw there is no Canseco, Mcguire etc. .. is that because of steroid stuff?

Anyway, I get the graphics complaints in that next gen doesn't seem better than last, but the graphics are very good overall - it's the animaitons and flow that don't seem next gen.

Also one of the best perks for early adopters for next gen is the lack of load times -.... but the show has HUGE load times!  like wtf - it's the same essnetially as last gen but you're telling me the loading is THAT Slow???

very luke warm for me, I doubt I hang onto it for very long

I have a feeling it is not load times you are experiencing but server connections. The servers are apparently melting the last few days.

I’m annoyed that whenever I’m playing franchise mode and I have a man on second base, a sharply hit ball up the middle, which should normally score my runner does not happen due to the fact that my runner unexplainable slides into third instead of rounding the bases and heading home.
