I've been an avid 2K gamer since the original 2K. I've also helped 2K in the past with a few things

I can be found on Twitter (@PTSports84) as I often give feedback etc there whenever I do not post here

I've released a few personal roster projects over the past 10+ years for various platforms.

I just wanted to provide the info so that anyone wanting to sort the changes easier can do so.The Real2KInsider has been busy with a full workload, so since I was off today and knew he likely wouldn't have time to post the changes, I thought I would.

Much appreciated! Do you keep a spreadsheet or is this stuff in a db somewhere?

I keep a personal spreadsheet of roster info but nothing in regards to the overall ratings etc. I'm more into Tendency edits etc than ratings as I feel like the Real2KInsider has that area covered well already. All I did was sort the changes from 2K's list, as it was simply re-sorting the info in a better way.

I also like to dive deep into the retro and all-time rosters and have previous threads noting feedback for them as well. I'm not new to the forums by any means, I just saw an opportunity to share the info since the Real2KInsider was working and may not have had time to share the info like he usually does

Wow, I'm continuously amazed at how generous they are with player ratings today.

I like the old rating system much better - SEE MY ROSTER BELOW if you're looking for something similar!

I wouldn’t have a clue what his rating is but is it possible to give Miles Bridges a 100 dunk rating? That man is putting everyone on a poster this year 😂

It's because player production is through the roof in today's NBA.

Chris Bosh averaged 24 PPG (9th) in his career year (2010). That would rank 20th in today's NBA.

I like the old rating system much better
I understand this was a plug, but nothing substantial has actually changed with their system over the last decade.

Well their ovr calculation has definitely changed resulting in more high 70/low 80 rated players.

i remember back in the Day that i was proud one season to only have 70+ rated players in my rotation.
one of the conf. Finals Pacers Teams in the early 2010s Featured only one Single 80+ Player (Danny granger with 84).

i once did a lookup using our league roster database going back to nba 2k15 and you saw that the number of top rated players basically stayed the same. but instead of having rotation players Cover the range from 68 to roughly 80 you now have them from 76 to 82.

The only thing that has really changed with the calculation is badges counting towards OVR.

Player production is what has changed drastically. Every team has a high-usage star now - this was not the case 10 years ago. The blueprint right now league-wide is maximize spacing around a star.

That Pacers team (a 90s throwback) is a prime example of how much the league has changed. The 2012 Pacers were going against the grain then, and there is no comparable team stylistically in the present.

                          Quick production summary
                          Hibbert: 19.3 PER, 54 TS% on 21 USG%
                          West: 17.8 PER, 53 TS% on 21 USG%
                          Granger: 18.6 PER, 56 TS% on 26 USG%
                          George: 16.5 PER, 56 TS% on 19 USG%
                          Collison: 13.6 PER, 53 TS% on 17 USG%

This was a very balanced team with no clear star. Granger ranked 28th in the NBA in Usage rate that year (between David Lee and Brandon Jennings). Hibbert, Tyler Hansbrough, and West ranked 80-82 respectively.

In today's NBA, Granger would have ranked 40th in Usage. Yet Hibbert & West would still be 80th. Usage is up at the top end. There are more "stars" today than there ever have been at any point in NBA history.

Why does Kyrie have a lower speed rating with and without the ball than James Harden? Kyrie has an 85 while James is an 89. Also Kyrie has a lower post offense rating than Harden, even though Harden almost never operates there and Kyrie goes there multiple times per game.

Kyrie is ranked lower than he was in Boston even though he is having a career year in everything besides 3pt% and apg (James Harden). In the games Harden hasn't played Kyrie is racking up a ton of assists while winning. Damian Lillard being ranked way ahead of him like they aren't comparable players is laughable to me.

                              Per NBA tracking data:
Kyrie: 21 Post Ups in 45 games
Harden: 19 Post Ups in 42 games

This is not multiple times per game, nor is it a significantly greater rate than Harden
