How Terrible Is the Trade Logic?!

Playing on PS5. I'm waiting for full minors rosters, so haven't started a Franchise yet, but thought I'd poke around it to take my first look. Used the Royals. After looking around, I tried the Trade Finder. Put RF Jorge Solar (C) and SP Danny Duffy (C) up for trade to see what they would fetch. LOOK at what the computer is offering in return ...

    BOS - Rafael Devers
    NYY - Jasson Dominguez
    TB - Tyler Glasnow
    TB - Austin Meadows
    DET - Akil Baddoo
    MIN - Royce Lewis
    HOU - Kyle Tucker
    SEA - Julio Rodriguez
    ATL - Christian Pache
    SD - Chris Paddack
    SD - McKenzie Gore

I thought SDS said in the lead ups to this release that they were re-evaluating trade logic and putting more value on young elite talent?!

You can literally get any player you want via trade for virtually nothing. I EASILY had a deal in place for Mike Trout. This is absolutely insane.

I think context matters here...... what were the teams situations going into these trade proposals? I also have a hard time believing u were able to get Trout for “virtually nothing” most of the players you named are just prospects and you offered 2 veteran solid players although most wouldn’t do any of those trades regardless.......from what I’ve tinkered with I found acquiring legit 80+ guys was pretty difficult

We would need to know player stats into the long term to get an idea if these trades really are poor though.

          Not really.

Running a test franchise, going into year 2 with Detroit -- DETROIT -- and I have Trout, Acuna, Jimenez, Vlad, K'Bryan Hayes, Ozzie Albies, Soroka and bunch of other stud pitchers. Also have like 25 of the top 50 prospects (Witt, Franco, etc.).

          Trading is broken, massively.

It's good for fantasy rebuilds, though, I suppose...

Yeah, and for people who want to game the CPU instead of trying to at least put up the pretense of trying to trade somewhat realistically.

In my tests, I haven’t seen the CPU make trades so foolish, only people trying to game the system, which you can do if you want, it’s your game.

If 10 year olds and tryhards couldn’t make trades like this, some folks would be pitching a fit because they can’t play like they want to.

            Just my .02.

Yeah as long as CPU teams are not making these types of trades with each other I am ok with it. Dont get me wrong, I'm sure there is still room for improvement, but I do think the logic is a bit better than it has been in previous years.

Out of curiosity I wanted to see what Philly wanted for harper .. and it showed nothing. So I offered Matt Carpenter and Justin Willams and it showed that they would take that !
I didn't do it.. because I Know there was no way they would really accept that.... unless the trade logic is built to resemble the Rockies Logic. I mean my Cardinals got Arenado for nothing [emoji23]

Re: How Terrible Is the Trade Logic?!

I use self imposed trade restrictions which allow some trades but not enough to develop an elite team in exchange for peanuts.

Even number of players traded on both teams. Single player trades must be same position or cpu team position of need on the trading block. Multiple player trades must be equal number of players and the highest rated player on the cpu team must be on the trading block.

There is more to it but trust me it's not going to allow for a bunch of rip off trades.

Having said that I do not have mlbts21 yet. Waiting on a ps5 console if and when one becomes available at a reasonable price. It's amazing they can land a helicopter on Mars but can't produce ps5 consoles on Earth.

Have you SEEN the stupid deals that happen in real baseball?

Did you SEE what Nolan Arenado got traded for?

Did you SEE that the ROCKIES paid the CARDINALS fifty million dollars to take him?

In real life, GMs and owners are idiots. That's reflected in the game.

Akil Baddoo for Jorge Solar and Danny Duffy and you think that’s some kind of home run for you? Come talk to me in August on that. What makes you think Akil Baddoo is worth anything? He’s on a 1-year deal for like $98k in the game. Are you that mesmerized by A-potential guys? He’s just another outfielder. I’d take Solar over him in two seconds.
                            Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

Ok, buddy. I don't do pics, but here's what's still on my transaction backlog 2 games into year 2.

Got RF Luis Robert from White Sox for SP JC Cloney, 3B Darin Maddox, and SP Steven Gingery.

Got SS Bobby Witt Jr from the Mets for CF Lolo Sanchez, RP Evan Steele and CF Daz Cameron.

Got SS Tommy Edman from the Cardinals for SP Tommy Wilson and SS Raynel Delgado.

Got SS Wander Franco and C Francicso Mejia from the Rays for RF Nomar Mazara, CF Justin Dean and SS Michael Aochi.

Got 2B Ozzie Albies and SP Mike Soroka from the Braves for 1B Jared Walsh, SS Migeul Rojas and 3B Bryan Stephens.

And Jared Walsh was in the Trout trade in the offseason, which also included Ohtani. I **** you not.

You don't have to believe it, but it's true. Pics or not.
