2K almost needs to now focus on multi-player experience and gameplay it feels to me. They can't compete in career mode with EA at this point it feels given EA having the majors.

Excited for EA game but kind of bummed that 2K seems like it can no longer be the game I wanted it to be

2 more courses we now know... Interersting, it looks like we would be able to play as past PGA Champions. Maybe we will be able to take a pro and compete in career mode.

play as or against past PGA Champions and compete on virtual renderings of the 2021 PGA Championship host course at Kiawah Island; and the 2022 host course at Southern Hills Country Club

I would assume there is little to none...this is from the FAQs here: https://www.ea.com/games/pga-tour#faq

What platforms will EA SPORTS PGA TOUR be available on?

EA SPORTS PGA TOUR will be available to play on next generation platforms. We’ll have more information to share soon.

Missed this little snippet from the Press Release yesterday:

As each major championship is played this summer, EA SPORTS will reveal additional details about EA SPORTS PGA TOUR,which is being developed in Orlando and Madrid by EA Tiburon.

Plus given the first two press releases have featured quotes from Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka, I'd say it's probably safe to assume they'll be in the game

Knew DJ would be in the game, kind of figure out Brooks would be in there too. Somebody in here once wrote the golfers not on the leaderboard of the 2K game and he was one of them, Rory was another one.

EA gamers won't be able to play as Tiger, but they will be able to play as guys hitting it even longer than Tiger. Whoever sign DeChambeau for exclusive right and have him playable in the game will be a big signing. Not that I care, I never used pros in the game.

It would be a mistake to ignore the PC golf audience. This isn't Madden or NBA 2k where PC players are only a small fraction.

Wow, EA is bringing it. The silence from 2k is starting to get deafening. At this point they maybe out for the count.

EA is bringing press releases and hype. I don't think anyone has ever doubted their ability to execute on those 2 things.

Whatever your opinion on 2K's game, at least they have a game you can play right now. We'll see in a year when they actually have to put-up or shut-up with a playable game, but it's easy to talk big when you don't have a game that people can actually play and critique.

Assuming one likes re-learning how to play every time they push another update.

I remember all that time that HB2K kept insisting the swing was working exactly as they wanted...right before they started endlessly screwing with the swing.

Yeah, it's hard to ignore the fact that 2K21 did sell over 2 million copies and is a proven franchise. That means EA is fighting an uphill battle to try to dethrone the reigning champ.

That said, 2K/HB is sort of shooting themselves in the foot here, too, with some of their recent actions. These last swing updates are being met with a lot of negativity - just look at the mentions on Twitter and the complaints of Xbox users over at TGC Tours. While there are a fair number of those who are applauding the swing changes (apparently, some folks are gluttons for punishment!), there's quite a vocal group that are not thrilled with completely overhauling swing outcomes 9 months after the game came out. While at the same time, EA is announcing big-time, real-world courses and the majors. It's hard not to get sucked in to the EA hype machine!

The TGC/2K golf game has always lacked in how they did the marketing for their product. They failed to even show actual footage of 2K21 until just a few weeks before the game's release. EA is going to dominate in the hype/marketing side of things, but, as you said, it will be up to them to actually bring it to the table when the game is released.

I really don't think EA has the uphill battle some people do.

EA, love them or hate them, knows how to do proper career modes and release things in a state of acceptable polish, fit and finish. Rory was an exception, not the rule.

I think the mainstream of golf gamers will absolutely FLOCK to the EA release, barring an absolute underwhelming disaster (which I'd bet **strongly** against happening).

And speaking of "hype", as mentioned above - which EA does great...

We literally live in the hype drives everything era...whether it's IG influencers, YT stars, Elon pushing billions around effortlessly with tweets about bit & doge..

Being great at hype is a massive advantage right now.

I think the "uphill battle" part is, for me, just literally because 2K21 has a well-established customer base now.

EA for sure have leveled it with Augusta right off the bat - I mean, people are still asking 2K to add ANGC to 2K21!

Also, it seems at this point, that EA will be the first to the gates with a true next-gen golf game. I don't see 2K releasing a game this year, and a new PGA 2K game was not listed on Take Two's upcoming titles list they sent out in as part of their recent fiscal results that they shared yesterday - https://ir.take2games.com/news-relea...ong-results-18

Well, again - you're criticizing a product that actually exists right now. EA can say whatever they want because they don't have an actual game as of today.

Rory is the most recent data point we have for EA golf. The career mode is essentially non-existent. You can hope/project all you want, but their most recent golf product suggests definitively that they don't know how to do a proper career mode.

I'm not sure what you're arguing here. No one ever said being great at hype is bad (for business). I'm simply stating the relatively obvious fact that hype does not equal a good product. I'm highly skeptical of anything EA says or shows before I get a product in my hands. After all, this is a company willing to put out blatant lies about what their game will look like....
