Re: Will there Ever Be a Real Halftime Show during the Season in Madden?
hardware has nothing to do with it.
it's about whether they want to take the time to implement it or not. -
Re: Will there Ever Be a Real Halftime Show during the Season in Madden?
Having a halftime show for your own game is sort of redundant since you would have seen all the plays. But as the season wears on the playoff picture becomes more important, season milestones, etc needs to be brought to attention. Other games are nice especially with playoffs coming into view but it needs to be way more informational than entertaining imo.

Even adding the Game Breaks you seen in NCAA 14 would be nice. The sim stats were a mess then(sim stats must have been based on 5 minute quarters), but it did make you make you feel part of an actual league. Take what you seen in 2k5/2k8, where it tracks what happens in game and discusses it during Halftime and Post Game.
The biggest thing is that it should feel like a living world not a bunch of exhibition games packed together with a few franchise specific commentary linesLast edited by illwill10; 06-12-2021, 06:52 PM.Comment

If the halftime involved real scores and highlights from members of an online league, that may be worth it for EA to consider. I am one of those people that holds "A" to get past highlights and pre-game, etc.
I would much rather see EA fix the line of scrimmage battles so we stop seeing the OL winning the push. Granted DL players may insta-shed, etc. but the OL still getting the 2-yard jump start.Comment

But sticking on topic, I think one of the biggest is the lack of commitment to offline. I'm not going to blame devs. I just think the focus has been on Online primarily for the past couple generations. I'm not saying Online isn't important, especially in this era. But when it comes to Online, a lot of the little stuff we want isn't as important to the core experience of Online. With offline, you have to commit to the "little things" more. In the competitive scene, you're primarily focused on the gameplay. You're not as focused on atmosphere and presentation when you're playing competitively. Even CFM was a way to make adding features to offline & online more seamless. When you focus on offline, you put more emphasis on depthComment

Personally I want all of the limited presentation resources spent on on the field features. I know how much of OS feels, but my immersion is about what's going on in the game and not any mimicry of a broadcast format. Of course I don't know what the percentage really is, and this may seem like a pejorative term, but I don't want them to "waste" resources on what I imagine 90% of the people playing will skip.
IMO that number will scarcely change no matter how much you flesh it out. I can't prove it of course, but I feel very strongly about this opinion. It's a philosophical divide, but broadcast authenticity is not a fundamental aspect of a great sports game, IMO. You're playing the game not watching it on TV.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

My main thing is the atmosphere. I don't need the ESPN broadcast or something that mimics a TV broadcast. Which is what I think ESPN wants Madden to do, which is why we haven't heard about an ESPN license extension yet. I just want it to feel like I'm apart of a living world where what is going on around the whole league matters. Gameplay is definitely the top priority for me, the atmosphere has felt so bland in Madden for a long timeComment

Re: Will there Ever Be a Real Halftime Show during the Season in Madden?
Let's be honest. This is the same dev team that created a pre-game video for Madden 21 that shows highlights from the game that has not even started yet and it shows a kick being blocked every single time lol. Not to mention their other big addition was Next Gen Stat videos that all have laggy editing. They aren't even capable of seeing the major flaws in these additions to the game so there's no way they could pull of a halftime show that would be worth watching.Comment

Re: Will there Ever Be a Real Halftime Show during the Season in Madden?
I hope not. There are far more important issues.
But I suspect this will be the year. EA promised improvements with franchise mode and I am worried that a feature that most people are going to simply skip past will be one of their hallmark 'improvements.'Comment

Re: Will there Ever Be a Real Halftime Show during the Season in Madden?
But I enjoyed sitting through 2k5 and 2k8’s half time shows. Gave me a minute to catch my breath and reflect on what had just happened. And enjoy a pretty solid halftime show. But we should be so far past those by now. We should have something that would blow

Re: Will there Ever Be a Real Halftime Show during the Season in Madden?
I don’t care what or how they add it. But they need to focus on immersion. I’ve been saying this for years. Franchise mode is basically a bunch of Play Now Games that are connected if you search through the stats and standings.
I was showing my Sports Marketing class (most were just babies if they were even born yet) 2k5s pregame and weekly wrap up show(sports center) and they were like why the heck hasnt this been in Madden. This would be so awesome.
We need something to show us what is going on on the league. Tecmo Super Bowl had something. Scores were shown with stat leaders after each summer game. They even showed a player coming back from injury. Obviously 2k had stuff. Madden tried years ago with the extra point and that was at least a start. Just imagine where it would be if it didn’t follow the typical EA 2 year and dump cycle of a new feature.Comment
