Franchise contract extensions
Hey all. For those that use 30 team control, do you extend players on other teams? If so, do you have a certain criteria that you use or just more of a guess? I like to just let things play out in mine(I usually only use 30TC to make blockbuster real life trades or negate a completely unrealistic one), but I noticed that the cpu doesn't use to extension feature. Thanks

I'm still using 20 (No Ps5), but my understanding was that 21 was going to have some in-season extensions by CPU teams?Hey all. Regardless, I'll typically only worry about extending legacy players like Kershaw, Yadi (If he doesn't retire), etc. If there are some real life extensions, I'll do my best to mirror them if I'm close to either of the extension windows.
If I'm in the offseason and there's a weird signing, or player left in FA that should be signed, I'll deal with it then.2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793 -

Pretty much the same for me too. I also try to get around the wonky morale system by giving players new contracts.

Re: Franchise contract extensions
I’ve been through one season and I didn’t see any CPU in season contract extensions. Haven’t seen them mentioned any where either unfortunately
The cpu does sign free agents during the season which is a plus. Nothing drastic but it’s better than nothing
Sent from my iPhone using Operation SportsI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Yeah, I remember that you have that same-ish philosophy as me(whatever happens happens). I have been following your franchise off and on, but couldnt recall if you had mentioned extensions at all

Re: Franchise contract extensions
Part of it is that it gives you a bit more of a "real life" feel to the game, since you can extend a player in real life at any point.
I think one of the main things is that, the more service time a player accrues, the more expensive (in theory...depending on performance) he'll get. My understanding is that the contracts in 21 are supposed to be a bit more dynamic, so (once again, in theory...), if the player has a big year, he's going to want more at the end of the season than he did before it started.
Videogame-wise, it also helps a bit to have cost certainty when you're building your team for the future. I run with an internal budget, as opposed to the ever-inflating budget that the game provides, so I like to sort of map out the way my team will look in 1-2-3 years, and make FA signings that fit that mold. Otherwise, I'd just be signing the best FA's every year. More cost certainty is extremely helpful for me.
On the flip side, if you're just going year to year with player signings, you're probably saving some money early on, before possibly ending up having to offer a monster contract.2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

Re: Franchise contract extensions
I do, especially the young players. It also makes FA in the off-season smoother with no surprises.smonee XboxHey all. For those that use 30 team control, do you extend players on other teams? Re: Franchise contract extensions
I also use 30TC. When it comes to trades I actually use a few baseball friends to act as opponent GMs. This gives me a real person to battle when deals are needed.
I provide them a quick snapshot of the current teams standings, injury report and playoff positioning. I don’t do any trades until after the All-Star break. The two weeks leading up to deadline is a frenzy.
I play with DH on for both leagues and budget OFF. Though we still use each teams payroll budget it just allows us to exceed it if we see a team that has a chance to push in a chase a title. we use an algorithm that will tell us whether the Owner will allow us going over budget (my Buddy is a stats guy).Comment

Re: Franchise contract extensions
I do a very similar thing setting up trades for buyers and sellers after the Allstar break using 30 team control. That's awesome you have some friends to play GM lol. I just use a random number app to determine what team gets a certain player being traded based on needs and if they have the prospects to trade for their value.I also use 30TC. Re: Franchise contract extensions
For players under team control still, the benefit is less work during the off-season and it avoids arbitration so you have a better chance of getting a better deal.
For players going into free agency, it will highly minimize the chance they don't accept an offer in the first 5 days of the off season and are exposed to free agency.
Yes this gives us as users an advantage because the CPU doesn't do it, but I am ok with that.Funkycorm
