    Performance or Quality?

Am I understanding it correctly that Madden 22 will have a 4K option but it only runs at 30 frames per second or a performance mode that runs at 60 frames per second but doesn’t have 2K quality visuals?

Not sure which one I’d pick if this is the case. Thoughts?

    Re: Performance or Quality?

I tried them both during the beta and couldn't tell a difference. However, thinking about it, the option may not have been working right.

Assuming it's working correctly at release, I tend to go with quality over performance.

I think that FPS and sports games could see the biggest difference in 30fps and 60fps. If it is indeed an option, I will take the hit in resolution to hopefully make the on field action run much smoother.

If performance was 60 fps at 1440 I'd go with that, if it drops down to 1080 then I'd rather have 4K at 30 fps.

This would not be an issue for PC gamers if the Next Gen version were released on PC. At least for those of us who have decent machines.

Or maybe if they didn’t put so many resources into the crowds.

          I don’t know. I don’t like it.

From the beta forum it looks like performance mode is 120fps. M21 had 120fps option as well, but the cutscenes were in 30fps. Someone in the beta forum mentioned that the cutscenes are up to 60fps now for M22.

Gameplay wise, performance mode is for 120hz gameplay. Quality is 60hz. Obviously at 120FPS, the quality will go down to achieve this. (I also don’t know if that’s exclusive to Xbox)

None of the gameplay is 30FPS. In the beta, my cutscenes were all 60FPS as well.. I’m a PC gamer who games at 155hz so it’s quite noticeable when stuff is off.

Will Ps5 be able to run the game at 120fps?

Yes the PS5 runs most every other game at 120

I’m pretty positive it’s exclusive to Xbox Series X. 120hz is only listed on Xbox listings and it sure didn’t work during the beta anyways for PS5.

Oh possibly. I forgot the Xbox has a faux 120hz upscaling feature that pushes games beyond what they were intended (EA UFC 4 for example). That very well may be the case. I don't see any reason why the PS5 wouldn't be able to do it as is though hardware wise.

I think with the Xbox they don't need to do any additional work as it's something inherently that the console supports via a software feature. Where as with the PS5 it doesn't have such a feature which is a shame.

I recently just got a fairly powerful RTX 3070 laptop that pushes most everything far above and beyond what the PS5 is capable of. Been playing that more than my console lately.

I don’t think it’s a hardware issue, more of their partnership with Microsoft. Hopefully it just wasn’t enabled and PS5 has the choice, not sure I’ve ever seen a performance setting be exclusive on ANY game lol.

So odd too that Madden on PC is neglected. I'd just buy it there instead and play cross play or something. Seems silly it's so segregated for such a simple game

I would be very disappointed if M22 doesn't run in 4k @ 60fps on the XSX. MS Flight Sim 2020 runs at 30fps @ 4k and is a much more graphical intensive game.

PS5 beta had 120fps I could tell by the smoothness.
It will be 60fps quality and 120fps performance
