Idk about everyone else but the game looks great. I know the complaints are that gameplay is untouched. But I think this’ll at least help give it a fresh coat of paint ?

I feel like NHL is the only game that EA does right. I'm not much of a hockey fan but the game is always a blast to play. '20 & '21 got me back into the series after a 15 year hiatus. Looking forward to '22.

These screenshots look great, and I’m really excited for this game.

But, I’m sad to see they STILL have not fixed the Flyers captain patches and numbers. These have been wrong for years. See how Coots looks in real life:

What gets me is the new black flyers alternate added to the game recently has the correct numbers and captains patches, but the regular home and away jerseys are still wrong.

I say the same about Madden because I casually follow football and my skill level isn't nearly up to par with my NHL skill level. I don't think EA does any of the respective sports justice imo. I always preferred 2k football, I always preferred PES, and I always preferred 2k hockey for offline play. Not to say EA doesn't make decent arcade games that are fun for the majority of sports gamers, but I always have found their games to be shallow and lifeless compared to their competitors at the time.

Out of the topic but any chance you gonna post your silders or discord soon dude please?

About NHL 22, I'm curious to see what the frosbite engine will provide to the game. For sure, it was a big gap when it arrived for fifa and madden. So we can expect something similar (especially for the rendering of the ice, lights, animations) but not sure it will have a massive impact on gameplay.
Moreover, for now, no information about differences between "current" and "next" gen and for a sport like hockey, ray tracing could be a strong point.

            wait & see

Why is the leap to Frostbite significant?
What is it about that engine that could make this series better?

you could see the difference if you watch fifa 16 (ignite and current nhl graphic engine) and fifa 17 (frosbite engine 1st generation)

What has always driven me nuts about the NHL series graphically is something that most people probably never pay attention to, but they essentially use replica jerseys as their base for models in the game. It’s evident by the Blackhawks shoulder patches. The, C with the crossed hatches is the one used on replica jerseys. Look at ones actually used on the ice and there’s a noticeable difference.

The dimples look good in the frostbite version, that's all I have to say. Maybe they got some MiC's on their hands this year haha!

His question was "What about the Frosbite engine is it that makes this series better" and you answer the graphics are more purty?

I mean, yes, it's a given that the new (old?) graphics engine makes things look way better than they were. But how does it make the game better? You say compare FIFA 16 to FIFA 17. Yes, the games look way different, but the gameplay's the same.

I don't know about you, but I buy games to PLAY them, not LOOK at them.
