    Franchise Award XP

I can't be the only one that noticed that they tremendously lowered the amount of XP you get from winning awards can I? Not only that but as far as I can tell they standardized the XP so it no longer matters what position the players is (beyond their actual eligiblity to win the award), how old they are, or even what their dev trait is.

Winning the MVP seems to give you 1,250 XP regardless of who you are. Winning best pass rusher? 300. Three hundred. You could get more from a practice.

Was this intentional? Is there some....reason for this?

    Franchise Award XP

The sim crowd has been critical of Franchise mode XP distribution and awards for a long time. Among their more pointed and valid complaints was that NFL players improving their abilities (ratings) via winning awards and accumulating statistics is backwards to real life; players train to get better in the offseason and summer training camp, then win awards in the fall.

If awards XP has been greatly reduced to the point that practice and development traits are now the strongest levers to pull in player development, that is probably a win for the sim crowd.

Yeah but a back to back mvp shouldn't stay at 84 either.

Yeah this is exactly my point, the unrealistic part is not a position player that scores 40+ TDs being a 90+ next year, it's the player scoring 40+ TDs. Fix the actual problem (defense, the AI, etc.) and not the frankly realistic byproducts of them.

With that said, I think I made a mistake anyway lol. After my WR broke a record and won OPOTW, he got what I think is the normal amount of XP. What's glitched is the menu where you used to view those milestones. The goals menu. Nothing ever shows up for game and season goals (maybe that's just if you're the player) and the milestone goals give those ridiculously low XP values. But again, once you actually win the award or hit the milestone you get what is almost certainly the same exact amount as you would have gotten last year.

So after they fix the zones this game should be good lol.

I finished the season with Hurts throwing 6,300 yds & 60 TDs, went 16-1, won the Super Bowl, and even with focus training & scheme fit all season he only went up from a 71 to a 75 lol. I will say that I appreciate that more this year though. We have manual editing to make up for some of what the XP gains lack if we need to and I'd rather have a slower grind to progress players than have everyone on my team be in the mid 80's - 90's by the 3rd season.

Why not? Clearly at 84 overall they are performing at an MVP level already, so why does it matter if their ratings change any?

It won't happen, but I wish EA would leave the XP system behind and would at least give us an option that allows those that want a performance influenced progression system to continue having one, and then an option for a progression system that is completely independent from performance.

Obviously that's asking EA to give us two different progression systems, test it, continue to maintain both, etc. and isn't a realistic ask. I just know they aren't leaving the performance based progression system behind anytime soon and it's one of my biggest gripes off the field with Madden. All I want is a more authentic progression system that is more similar to that of Out of the Park.

I’d prefer xp to be completely removed and replaced with a system that uses the expertise of your staff as the catalyst for player development. Instead of a “perk” system, the staff should be used for what they are in real life: player development. If any perks should be there, they should be game day perks, since — again — that is what a real coaching staff does.

I totally agree with the point here.... now we just need Madden to give us an off-season and OTAs phase where we can have players training to improve for the fall.
