Has anyone tried these sliders? I was wondering how well these worked for coach mode.

      UPDATED 1/7/22

      How I Play:

I only call plays and make no adjustments after the play is called. If I make a bad call, I live with it. On OFFENSE, I select any play I want EXCEPT I only allow myself to call 4 Verts or any Smash play once per half (so 2 plays per half) as they are money plays 90% of the time. On DEFENSE I use ASK COACH and allow myself to scroll through all of the plays available and select one. That's it.

      Offensive Skill: All-American
      Defensive Skill: All-American
      User Vs User Skill: All-American
      Injuries: On
Fatigue: On (Optional: After halftime, turn Fatigue off for one play and then back on)

Hey Gomer - Thanks! Is this still set on All-American skill level for both offense and defense? Also, would you mind posting any game results/stats?

It is at the All-American difficulty. Sorry I left that out by mistake but, I've added it back in. Heisman difficulty tends to cheat too much and I never lose on Varsity.

While I don't have any game stats saved, here is how my season with Minnesota is going. Note that I haven't played any teams with high scoring offenses yet so that's why some of my defensive numbers are so good. Also, Minnesota runs a Spread offense so I pass more than run.

Thanks Gomer. I have some questions I’d like to get your input on:

            1) Have you tried playing coach mode on Heisman? If so, how does it compare to all-American?

            2) How is the cpu game management with these sliders? For example, do they go for it on fourth downs when the should, try field goals when they should or when they are ahead, do they try and run out the clock?

            3) Do the RB’s cut up in to the hole, or always try and bounce it outside?

            4) Does the QB throw it up field, or just try and ‘dink and dunk’ with short passes?

            5) Do you get a reasonable number of INT’s?

            6) How’s the opponent’s running game with these sliders?

            7) Do screen passes and draws work?

            8) Do you get a reasonable number of sacks, and not too many TFL’s?

            9) Do you get a reasonable number and good variety of penalties?

            10) Why are KR/PR interference and RTP sliders set at 1 and RTK set at 10?

As an FYI, I’d still be interested in getting some screen shots of game stats if you get a chance. Looking forward to your response. Thanks!

BTW, as background, I’m a coach mode only player from way back. I haven’t played NCAA 14 in years, but have recently returned after giving up on playing Madden. I see most people doing sliders recently have really been focused on Heisman, but I always used to play on all-American because I always thought it was more ‘neutral’. Anyway, I just recently set up college football revamped on my PS3, and am starting a new dynasty. That’s why all the interest and questions.

I've updated the sliders to get the CPU offense a bigger boost.

                1. Yes and I felt like the CPU cheated to win too many times.

                2. The CPU game management isn't very good at the end of games if they need to score. In general, the play calling by the CPU is bad but, I've tried to account for that with these sliders by giving them advantages so some bad play calls still work. They will go for it on fourth down when needed. I just had them run a fake punt on me when testing the new version of the sliders. They punt when they should. It's not perfect and it's done better in games like NFL 2K5.

                3. The RB's do tend to want to stay outside on runs that are meant to be outside runs but, the high RB Ability slider mitigates this as much as possible and you will see them cut upfield. There are some plays, like sweeps, that rarely work.

                4. QB's throw it all over the field and will burn you deep if it's open.

                5. I think so. If you don't, just up the Interceptions slider until you're happy.

                6. Pretty good with this set. RB's only use cuts and stiff arms so that's something I've accounted for with these.

                7. Yes.

                8. Yes on the sacks. TFL's tend to happen in this game a bit more than other football games I think. This is in part due to the lack of special moves being used. High RB Ability helps to mitigate this by breaking some tackles.

                9. Penalties don't happen that often other than False Starts but, I don't see any way to fix that. 4-5 per game between teams usually.

                10. I honestly don't know. I kept them that way after trying a bunch of other slider sets from other people. That seemed to be the most common setting so I left it. Be careful altering penalty sliders because my understanding is that they effect gameplay. I've kept them the same for a long time now to develop this slider set. Otherwise I would be fiddling with stuff forever.

I'll see if I can get some stats when I play my next game. I'm going to try these new slider adjustments with some good, fairly even teams and see how it goes. I played a half with Oklahoma at home and me visiting with Wake Forest and was down 24-7 at the half when I had to quit.

Here are some stats from a wild game. I was Auburn visiting LSU. LSU had the worst luck in this one as I had 2 pick sixes, they missed 2 field goals and they dropped a wide open 50 yard touchdown pass. Overall, a real defensive struggle. I sorted the defensive stats by Sacks since you asked about that and you can also see most of the TFL's.

Re: Coach Mode Sliders for College Football Revamped

Took ND into Ohio State and got stomped. I lost my starting tailback in the first quarter to injury and that pretty much shut down my running game. Ohio State had no such issue. I got sacked a ton while not getting any sacks myself.

My offensive totals have been low in both of these games due to a few things, I think. Facing very high rated defenses, for one. I've also been the lower rated team each time and played away games. Injury in the ND game killed me and the 2 pick sixes in the Auburn game meant I didn't have as many offensive possessions in that game. So, don't let that concern you too much. If I had taken the time to look at the teams' depth charts I probably could have called a better game but, I save that sort of stuff for the dynasty. I'll play a game in the next day or two where I have a high rated offense and am higher rated overall.

Re: Coach Mode Sliders for College Football Revamped

One last one. I was Iowa State. Started off poorly down 10-0 after the first quarter. Fortunately, the Illinois QB had a rough first half throwing 4 picks and losing a fumble. That led to a 35 - 10 lead for me early in the third quarter. Then Illinois got it together and almost made it all the way back on top but, I stopped them on a 4th down at my own 30 with 1:30 remaining and was able to run out the clock. So, all 3 games I've posted here have been very different experiences. I like that.

Thanks for sharing all the info! Very helpful and interesting. I’ll be using your sliders as a starting point for my dynasty. I’d like to propose we continue to share information and results as we make any changes and tweaks to the sliders or rosters. That doesn’t mean we have to use the same all the time, but it would be great to learn from each other’s experiences. Let me know if you’re interested.

BTW, are you using College Football Revamped?

Yeah, I'd love it if you posted your results here. I feel like I've been doing Coach Mode sliders all alone for a long time. It will be interesting to see what your experience is and if you find some ways to improve this set for the way you play the game. I made a couple small tweaks to the set today (User Run and Pass Block) so make sure you give it another look before you get going.

Yes, I am using College Football Revamped. I am on the latest version V16. I update it each time they release a new one. I play in an emulator on PC.

I look forward to seeing how things go for you.

Realized I did not include the Auto-Subs settings. I stole these from a thread somewhere where they were the most recommended and I think they work really well.

Thanks again. Just finalizing some things on my roster, and need to start my dynasty, setting up recruiting, etc. Might take a day or two, but I’ll get back to you. Biggest thing l want to try and do is get some more penalties while keeping as much of the game play results you’ve achieved. Might also try a few other suggestions I’ve seen in some other slider threads to tweak the running game. I’ll get back to you when I get some results. In the meantime, let me know if you make any other changes.
