Post Offense: Spin/Drive not working
Is anyone has having a problem with posting up and trying to spin towards the basket? I went into the Controls tutorial; it’s identical to 2K21, but everytime I post up and enter the commands, my player disengages from the post to face-up the defender.
Any help with this much appreciated!Tags: None -
Re: Post Offense: Spin/Drive not working
When I compare the NBA 2K21 post moves list to the one in NBA 2K22 I see two missing in 2K22--drive towards baseline and drive towards lane. I assume they took both out.Comment

Re: Post Offense: Spin/Drive not working
Are you on next gen?
Looks like the only post drives are the half-circle inputs...

Re: Post Offense: Spin/Drive not working
I have 2K21 on my XBox One X, and 2K22 on my PS5. I immediately noticed the spin drive wasn't working on the PS5, and saw it was missing from the list.
I'm practicing the circle spin with the stick, and it does seem to do the same thing but I haven't mastered it yet. I can get them to spin, but they stop right after the spin and won't keep driving to the basket for some reason I haven't figured out yet.
I figure they got rid of the auto-spin in favor of using the right stick to do it more manually, but I dunno, I just know it's not working now.Comment

You got to practice with it more to get the hang of it. Post Offense is my best weapon right now. hahaI have 2K21 on my XBox One X, and 2K22 on my PS5. I immediately noticed the spin drive wasn't working on the PS5, and saw it was missing from the list.

Re: Post Offense: Spin/Drive not working
My theory is that version of the spin was too easy to activate and spam in 2K21, so they made it manual and shortened it up.I have 2K21 on my XBox One X, and 2K22 on my PS5. I immediately noticed the spin drive wasn't working on the PS5, and saw it was missing from the list.

It won't take you all the way to the rim but you can branch out of it.

it’s definitely the rotating of the shot stick now to do the spins towards the baseline or key

Yes this is my exact problem and it’s a game breaker for me.Comment

Re: Post Offense: Spin/Drive not working
The right trigger will allow you to spin but why it’s hard to do it correctly and not end up screwing up and do it a different stupid shot or something, and to even when you pull it off correctly there’s no continuity in the drive to the basket, so that classic move the Jordan did against the Knicks that you used to be able to do on 2k can’t be done anymore. This is a huge letdown and breaker of the post game. Hope they fix it.Comment

I'll go back and check the tutorial, maybe something was still in there that shouldn't be.Is anyone has having a problem with posting up and trying to spin towards the basket? When you let go of LT/L2 with your left stick pointed in the general vicinity of the basket, in 2K21 you would drive/spin in that direction. However, the spin/drive moves were almost identical to twirling RS. So it didn't make a ton of sense to have the same move on two different mechanics.
In 2K22, when you attempt this move, you will move in the direction you have left stick but you WILL face up. So if you want to spin/drive, use RS.
That said, spins and drives on RS are different this year also. If you twirl the stick without any input from left stick, you'll spin/drive in place. We'll call that a START. During the START move, if done early enough, you can use left stick to then determine which direction you want to go. If you press left stick towards the basket during the START, you'll do your traditional spin/drive "go", which is just like a spin/drive in 2K21. You can also pull left stick away during the START and do a stepback. There are crossbacks, step outs, spin backs, etc as well.
Also, with regards to the "drive to baseline" move, when you do a spin/drive "go" (i.e. going towards the basket), you can move left stick towards the outside baseline and your player should move in that direction, giving you the old Kobe spin pull-up opportunity if you shoot. So that move should still exist as well.
I'd recommend hopping into freestyle and giving these a shot and, once you get them down, I hope you'll find that you have a lot more options at your disposal than before. Report back!Comment

I've been having a bit of trouble with this too (xsx). Should I let go of the LT during the spin?I'll go back and check the tutorial, maybe something was still in there that shouldn't be.

I've been using the semi-circle motion and then pressing 'x' to shoot in a different LStick direction to attempt a move/pump fake, then shot - sort of like an up and under but it doesn't play out that way.
This year I didn't think you could spin drive and keep going at all so that's good to hear..is there also a drop-step or is that just tied to a spin towards basket and shoot right away.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Post Offense: Spin/Drive not working
Rotate the right stick. Was having the same problem, but can pull it off every time now.
