I know we have IR in the game where were they are out for 8 weeks but can we get short term IR like the real NFL do you guys think we will ever get that in Madden 22 or maybe Madden 23

Not until it's a permanent rule. It was only instituted last year for Covid and has only been extended for this year so far.

I think he's talking about the IR for 3 weeks thing... When placed on IR during the season, eligible to return after 3 weeks.

Right - that’s part of the temporary rule.

Prior to COVID a player who was placed on IR had to stay there for 8 weeks.

They still don't have things caught up from the CBA change a year ago. No chance they do something temporary like this. Would be great, but probably not worth the time investment for them.

I believe the injured reserve (two players can return after eight weeks) and practice squad rules (up to 12 players) are mostly correct to the letter of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. The one thing missing defined by the CBA is that there is no game-day call-ups from the practice squad in Madden. In real life, the CBA allows teams to call up two practice squad members for game day.

The 2020 COVID exceptions carried over into the 2021 season don't count as part of the CBA. I think that's what Kehlis is getting at; don't expect Madden to add in the COVID exceptions (anyone can return from IR after three weeks, 16-man practice squads, teams may protect on a weekly basis four practice squad members from signing with other teams, up to six veterans on practice squads) until they become actual rules and not one-year exceptions.

Yeah that's my point. It would be great to have the covid rules but it's not worth their dev time for something that they may have to reverse for M23. I'd rather them get things current with the new CBA (in this area and esp. contracts) than spend time on temp rules.

It would be wonderful if they could some how get this in the game, but with the state of the game I doubt that since this is a COVID-19 rules and hopefully after next season they will have new CBA rules for the 2022 season.

It's so typical of them to condition us to just not expect real rule changes, being temporary or permanent, for a given year of the game. I mean, is it so much to expect Madden 22 actually represent the 2021-22 season?

They don’t know what the rule is going to be next season or beyond.

Most people play their franchise for more than one season. If they change the IR rules to be accurate for this season then it could very well be inaccurate for next season and beyond (for this years game).

I personally would prefer to have the wrong IR rules only for season one rather than every season after the first one.

Injuries to full a roster spot
