Flyers season is over. The Flyers have lost at home, upset by the 8-8 New York Jets.
Defense ruled this one.
The Flyers first 3 possessions were interception, 3 and out, interception. Even Ray Rice couldn't get things going, he had negative yards after 6 carries. Thankfully for them the defense bent but didn't break, the Jets only got two field goals from those two turnovers.
The Flyers didn't even get out of their own half of the field during the first half. Second half that changed on the very first play. Tyron Chisholm, only playing because of the injury to Torrey Smith, caught a Pat White pass for 30 yards. A completion to Thompson had things looking good but then White was intercepted and only Ray Rice was was able to stop the return from going the distance.
Flyers then had two drives, starting inside their own 10 yard line. Twice White barely avoided a safety, just getting out of the endzone before being sacked and just getting off a pass. Jets added a third field goal, giving them a 9 point lead with 4:30 left which looked to lock the game up. Indeed it did. Things ended for the Flyers when on 4th down White missed an open Reed.
In the end it was the Jets kept Ray Rice from doing anything and kept receivers from getting open, so White kept getting picked off from trying to force things. A season that had so much promise has ended disappointingly with 3 losses to end the regular season and now getting outplayed at home to lose in the first game of the playoffs.
